  1. I have a similar problem with my 1996 Sport which is intermittent and still yet to be permanently resolve: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=18622
  2. I was with Direct Line for three years, but for my current years insurance their renewal wasn't very competitive and it would have been cheaper for me to cancel and come back as a new customer. At the time I saw an advertisements for Privilege and, as DL's sister company, they and their paperwork are just as easy to deal with. Anyway they were cheaper than DL's new customer quote by around £120, so I went with them. Fullly comprehensive, five years protected no claims, I took a voluntary excess (can't remember amount) as I'm 25 and no longer have 'young driver' excess and it was around £520 for my 1996 Series I GS300 Sport on the driveway.
  3. I use spyware and ad-aware software and now run Firefox instead of IE, but I also have a good free popup stopper which is available at: http://www.panicware.com
  4. My last day at work was Friday 17 December. I'm at work tomorrow and then off until Monday 10 January. I've never had such a long consecutive break in my working life. It's been really nice.
  5. After using Kazaa Lite for a long time I eventually suffered from a lot of spyware from it. I now use Ares, which I read about in another forum, and it's quick and easy to use and so far I haven't had any problems with it: http://www.aresgalaxy.org
  6. I thought I'd let you know that it can't be a fuse as it started working again on Saturday night and has been fine ever since. I think I'm going to see if Lexus can do a diagnostic check to see if that comes up with anything.
  7. I have tried the other remote and that doesn't work either. The light still flashes indicating it's immobilised when the key is removed from the ignition. The central locking works and we've checked the door, boot and bonnet switches and they appear to be fine. I can't understand how the remote let me disarm and unlock the doors, so I could open the driver one and then open the bonnet to remove the EFI fuse for 30 seconds, as I changed unleaded fuel, and since putting the EFI fuse back in it neither arms or disarms. Are there any fuses or relays that relate to the alarm? We've looked in the engine and in the drivers footwell and nothing obvious jumps out.
  8. The Spielberg one is set in modern times. It also features Miranda Otto who played Eowyn in The Lord of the Rings.
  9. I tried what Colin suggested; I held the button down and it started to flash after a few seconds and I held it for over 30 seconds, but it didn't work. I tried both buttons with the doors locked, unlocked and with the ignition on. I checked all the fuses and relays to make sure I didn't dislodge anything when removing the EFI fuse, but none of them appear to be related to the alarm system anyway. Looks like a visit to Lexus. I'm starting to wish I ported my Clifford Concept 500, with window closure and remote start, over from my previous car.
  10. I searched and couldn't find an appropriate topic to post my problem. I have a 1996 Series I Sport which has this alarm type: Toyota TVSS IIIB Cat 1 alarm/immobiliser and the Toyota EIS Immobiliser. I've been having problems recently where I'll arm the car with the keyfob and then return to find it will not open with the keyfob despite the light coming on indicating the keyfob is working (Lexus fitted a new battery in July when I had the car serviced). Usually after a minute or two and numerous presses it will work. Unlike the previous type of alarm locking/unlocking the door with the key doesn't activate/deactivate the alarm, so I can't open the door with the key without setting the alarm off and if I lock the door with the key the alarm isn't activated. It has been working flawlessly for a few weeks now, but last night after I removed the 20amp EFI fuse to reset the ECU (since going back to regular unleaded) the keyfob light comes on, but neither button does anything, so at the moment I'm having to lock/unlock the door with the key which means the car's not alarmed. Does anyone have any ideas before I go to Lexus?
  11. I browse it more often than I participate, so I only have three feedback, but all positive.
  12. I'm not sure how it works with the existing points and I can't remember when they brought in this rule or the specifics, but if you get the six points in those two years I believe your license is revoked and you have to do a theory and practical test again.
  13. From a practical point of view a 4x4 makes sense, but it's a shame the RX isn't within reach.
  14. Congratulations on your purchase and welcome! I agree it's worth going Gold, it saved me lots on my first Lexus service and there are many other benefits too.
  15. I've seen a white one in my town and it's the only one I've seen on the road.
  16. Another good web site is: http://www.spywareinfo.com
  17. I use Ad-Aware SE Personal and Spybot - Search & Destroy. Both are free license versions.
  18. Now that is clean and must take ages.
  19. There are a few cars I hope I can contemplate, money permitting, after my GS: GS300 Sport Series II GS430 Sport Audi A8 4.2 Quattro
  20. I've always liked the R34. I used to like the Mk IV Supra, but have gone off it a little over time.
  21. 25 and have a GS300 Sport Series I, which I bought when I was 24.
