  1. The service schedule in my 2020 IS300h show the filter is replaced every 12 months or 10,000 miles, the dealer confirmed this yesterday when they replaced it.
  2. I was charged for the cabin filter as I have taken out a 3 year service contract with this dealer. They also sent me a video, but it was only under the car showing the brakes pads, tyres & suspension, no oil or oil filter etc. I have been a Volvo owner for the last 10 years & they have always given me a breakdown of the work done on each service, I did not get this with Lexus just a quick tick sheet with green, yellow & red boxes. Is this normal for a Lexus service? Interesting that there are a few different views on this issue, which is good to get peoples perspective on problems big or small.
  3. He had a quick look for the oil filter, but couldn't see it. he did check the oil & said it looked clean, but couldn't honestly say if it had been changed.
  4. He said it's well know in the trade apparently on low milage cars, a lot of dealers save themselves a bit of money by not changing them. Could add up to a lot of money if its done to quite a few cars a week do you not think?
  5. I took my car in for its first service on Friday, it has only done 3,700 miles from new, but it is now a year old so it needed to be done. All seemed fine when I picked it up, but I happened to have a friend stay for the weekend who works for Audi in Lincolnshire. We got talking & I told him I had just had the IS serviced, he went straight outside to my car & pulled out the pollen filter & said they have not changed that!! He then looked at the schedule & said yes it should have been changed, he then commented I wonder what else they haven’t done? Long story short, I phoned the dealer who apologised & said it was the parts dept who hadn’t sent down the filter to the service technician. He said bring it back & we will change it while you wait. I took it up today & they changed it, I asked to speak to the manager, but he was in a meeting & wasn’t free. They gave me a screen wash/ice scraper kit as an apology. Question is, do I take it further or accept it was a genuine mistake? Opinions on this would help. 🙂
  6. That is great news.😀 I miss that now. My previous Volvo V40 D4 was £0 road tax, not bad for a 190bhp car with a 0-60 of just over 7 sec's. It was only 99g/km CO2. Somehow my IS300h is 144g/km CO2 for a Hybrid? £150 or so a year.😒 Typical Govt meddling with things that were working fine.😁
  7. That is very true, before long an average car will be hitting 40K & the threshold doesn't seem to be going up. As for salary, you can in a lot of cases increase you pension contributions to help offload some of this tax burden & also help your retirement be a little more comfortable in the future.
  8. I knew this, that is one reason I didn't go for a Volvo S60, too higher list price compared to Lexus.
  9. I use wax it wet on my IS300h & my wife's Polo & have always been pleased with the results, but I do wax them with Meguiars quick wax after every couple of washes as well. The finish as you say is very good.
  10. Finally got my car back from Lexus Derby & it now looks like new again. They have been very good & gave me a car while they had it for the week & even coated the roof with Supaguard for free.
  11. Aldi will soon be the new John Lewis.😄
  12. Very nice looking ES, great colour, enjoy.
  13. I done quite a lot of research before I bought my IS300h & it appears they are very reliable & the Hybrid system is tried & tested. I am glad I made the switch as I am really enjoying mine.
  14. Welcome to the forum, great choice of vehicle. What colour did you buy? I really don't think it will it will make any difference as long as it is the correct grade & spec of oil. We use different manufacturers oil as to what is recommended by the suppliers at work because we have a contract with Fuchs & they supply our oil.
  15. It looks very nice, congratulations.
  16. I personally think this is a lot of money to add to the price you have paid for the car & you will never get this back on resale, but of course this is your choice. I hope you are happy with the results.
  17. When I purchased my IS300h pre registered model, I polished it with Autoglym Resin Polish, waxed it with Meguiars Ultimate Wax & then after every couple of washes I apply Meguiars quick wax to it. I have found that the bodywork is very slippery now & nothing really seem to stick to it, also it still has that lovely showroom shine & I get lots of comments from people about how clean it always looks. Maybe worth trying any of these products if you don't want to go down the detailer route yet.
  18. How funny, I had the V40 as my previous car with the newer D4 engine 190BHP & it was very responsive with the twin turbo's even from tick over. The seats were also very comfortable, not quite as good as the IS300, but almost as good. No build quality issues either in my 5 years of ownership.
  19. Could well be, I never liked the fact if you needed to quickly speed up you had to turn it off first.
  20. I disagree with your last statement, in my previous Volvo V40 you could put your foot down as much as you liked & it wouldn't go any faster than the limiter, you had to turn it off on the steering wheel or use the buttons to increase the speed.
  21. I would keep pushing them on it, maybe contact the manager. I did offer to get it sorted at my local paint shop that has a very good reputation, but they insisted they wanted to sort it themselves so that they can be sure it is done to a very high standard. Good luck with your daughters car.
  22. Sorry to hijack again, but I have an update on my roof blemish. The selling dealer said it was probably bird lime from its time sitting at the docks, they have come across this before apparently. They arranged for a dealer more local to me to try & polish it out, long story short they went too far through the clear coat & had to respray the whole roof. The finish was not particularly good & I sent pics to selling dealer. They were disgusted with the finish that was left on the car & have arranged to take it back to where I bought it from & spray the roof properly back to original spec & finish, which in all fairness is good of them. They have said they will give me a car while it is being done & send me a detailed video when it is complete. Fingers crossed it will come back like new.
  23. It looks very nice, I am sure you will love every minute of it.
