  1. I ban Einstein for having a low-res, overcompressed avatar
  2. They'll take quite a hit if they stop supplying LOC. Given the choice of paying x amount at Hanley or the same amount at a local Toyota/Lexus dealer, people are going to go local.
  3. Ouch! That means mine's dropped about nine grand in the time I've owned it. Still, dropped another fifteen before I bought it so not as bad as it could've been!
  4. I ban Vyker for getting better MPG than me
  5. P0155 is the heater inside one of the oxygen sensors (bank 2, sensor 1, it'll be one of the ones on the exhaust manifold rather than after the cats, looks like a spark plug). Grab a used one off eBay and change the plug if necessary (you should find that you can pop the pins out, no need to cut & splice). You'll probably find the universal ones don't work, the fault kept coming back on my sister's Avensis because the heater resistance of the universal one was too low (4Ω, the Toyota ones are around 12Ω). You don't want Lexus fixing that one, Toyota quoted £240 to replace ONE, and both had gone! I did the pair for under fifty quid, including the special socket to undo it.
  6. Nearly came a cropper on the black ice, but recovered well! I'll have to quote Aido on this one... MEGA!
  7. Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s on mine, after they were recommended on here. Had the front ones done a while ago, switched the backs this week (last ones were Pirelli P7000).
  8. Hmmm... I know the 52-plate GS can be read, because I've read mine. Don't know if they changed something at facelift-time. My OBD reader was playing up before, but I put it down to a dodgy USB lead as it was fine when I changed it.
  9. A mate of mine paid so much for a pot of tea in Little Thief, he took the pot!
  10. I've now sorted my sister's Avensis out with two second-hand sensors from eBay. One was from another Avensis but had a different length cable, the other came from a 1AZ-FE engine (2.0 Avensis or RAV4), swapped the plug (popped out the pins and fitted them in the existing plug), cleared fault codes, job done.
  11. If you get a FlashLube system fitted (look on eBay) it should prevent valve wear. They should have pointed this out. If they don't know anything about it, go elsewhere.
  12. Got the instructions from a local Toyota dealer (cheers Geraint). They're for the IS, I used them to suss out the installation in a GS.
  13. It just is. Perhaps it's 5 minutes, but we're told to count 6 just to make sure! Stops someone hacking the immobiliser I suppose. Gotta sit there like a lemon for 6 minutes before it'll go anywhere.
  14. Yeah, got them. At home though, and I'm 60 miles from there until Monday evening. PM me your email address and I'll send them when I get back.
  15. A word of warning, I've tried the aftermarket ones on my sister's Avensis and it hates them, tripping the warning light with P0135 and P0155 codes (oxygen sensor heater circuit malfunction). This appears to be due to the heater resistance (about 4 ohms on the cheap aftermarket ones, 12 ohms on the Toyota ones). Keep an eye on eBay for sensors, they're expensive from Toyota/Lexus! Do you know what error code you were getting? A P0135 or P0155 wouldn't be fixed by cleaning as it indicates a faulty sensor heater, not a faulty sensor.
  16. Picked my sister's Avensis up from the garage earlier on (intermediate service), guess what was there, bonnet up, blown engine...?
