  1. :D :D :D :D :D That's hilarious! I felt so sorry for him though, especially when they said he was the editor. That look of panic on his face :o was quality. Poor Guy! Did he get the job he was applying for?
  2. Sure that join ? I have the same problem with dash light :-( Yesterday I separated (it is wrong ?) harneses and light on dash still is ON :( From your mail I assume that wires must be joined ? Please confirm this OK ? Thanks :D Yeah, join them together mate. :D
  3. That's unlikely mate in a turbo MR2(especially your tricked up one) as It sounds like it was probably an ST1100 Pan-european which would only do about 135 anyway, although would whupp you on acceleration of course. sounds like a cr*p one too if it fell to bits (Honda is regarded as the best bike manufacturer when it comes to build quality). Had it been an 1100 blackbird honda it would have wiped with the floor with your car had he been trying. (0-100 in about 6 seconds, 180MPH top speed.) Unless you leave Milton Keynes of course, then it's bye-bye Mr.car driver. It's so hard to ride a superbike to its full potential on the road and when cars try and race me when i'm on my bike I have to back off so I don't get up to silly speeds. Also most of us superbike-riders are very wary of unmarked performance cars trying to race us. In 6 years no car has ever kept up with me when I am "on it" on my bike, this includes Ferarri's/ Porsches/ TVR's etc. I have never been to MK on my bike though (think i'll take the car if I go there). In the wet and snow though, cars definitely rule.
  4. He's wrong about the pneumatic valve lifters. The LS has buckets and shims and needs adjusting. It's quite a big job as well. Try doing a search as there have been a few posts on this subject before. Also your mechanic probably meant hydraulic rather than pneumatic (he was still wrong though).
  5. I called them to check this and the guy said the air con only works on recirculating setting and fan setting one. I smell a rat here, can anyone corroborate this? I had a Honda a while back and that was like sitting in your fridge
  6. Good morning to you too. This has come up before, from what I can remember the "mod" consists of a resistor which fools the car's brain into thinking the car is cold, thereby injecting more fuel in than normal/ required. It's bad for your car and best avoided and is basically a waste of £3.
  7. I just read this post and went and bought one from Halfords, £139.99. It seems very good value and does postcodes too, i'm chuffed as I couldn't convince myself I needed one for £350. Thanks for the heads-up mate. :D
  8. There wasn't a link mate. I've just fitted some NGK Iridium IX plugs to my Superbike and they're excellent, they seem to burn really well and the engine just seems more efficient and also sounds smoother. I'm pretty sure you can get them for cars too.
  9. Just had a look at your e-bay ad, it looks gorgeous. Anyone after a pristine series 3 will be laughing there. Good luck with the sale (I'm watching it in "my e-bay" and i'll show as many people as I can). Your new one must be a beauty to be getting rid of that series 3 :winky: Adz
  10. Absolutely, although my best mate is a traffic cop in Wilts and we've checked my snooper S5-R picks them up (laser's) after he told me he was nicking people with RoadAngels/ snoopers fitted. One guy was particularly p**sed off as he had spent nearly £500 on his and when Jeff pointed the laser directly at his detector (from about 3 feet away) it didn't go off. These sneaky b'stards (my mate included) can have you from over half mile away, the only way to avoid being caught is to slow down (or get a laser blocker A.K.A garage door opener fitted near your number plate) Which cause a certain error on the Laser display. However once said Rozzer gets the error code he/she'll pull you over and look for your device. Then if/when they find it you're bang in trouble, unless you've actually got an electric garage door. It's a bit like an arms race with each side trying to stay one step ahead. Having said all this waffle i've got 6 points and had a few warnings. At least with traffic cops you can have a chat and say how sorry you are and appeal to their human nature, some do have one. With them b'stards in the vans you never know if they've got you. Last year I came round a corner on my fireblade and there was a "safety van". I didn't know if he'd got me and was really tempted to stop and ask if he had (he hadn't luckily).
  11. Welcome to the LOC first of all :D I'm sure like most people on here you're more interested in the IS200/300 and there's plenty of very good ones at your budget. There'll be plenty of advice on those as I believe there are certain models within the IS range which are more desirable than others. Also the GS300/430 is somewhere between the IS and LS range with a 3 litre/6 and a 4.3 litre/V8 available. Also there is the RX range of 4x4's which i'm sure is also within your budget. However, for your 15k you could get a very nice LS400 for the ultimate in luxury (The big limo with the smooth, powerful 4.0 V8). Something to consider is the fact none of these cars are particularly good on fuel. As for faults on each model, try doing a search on this site for specific faults for specific models. Lexus cars are extremely reliable as long as they are well maintained.
  12. That's mint! They do actually look happy though.
  13. First of all welcome to the LOC :D . What are the engine and gearbox doing out of the car mate :o ? When you say refurbished, what's actually wrong with it? Hopefully someone will be along to recommend someone in your area but i've not heard of many LS400 engines being removed on this site.
  14. If you're after a nice restaurant one evening, fusions is very nice. It's in the Gulf hotel (opposite the grand mosque). I used to work/ live quite near there for a few years and it has a good rep amongst the brit ex-pats B) . I take it you're in the Jumeira beach area if you're going sunbathing then. Enjoy the rest of your stay. You're spot on there. The Saudi's and Bahraini's love their Toyotas/ Nissans and their respective luxury derivatives the most as they keep going, even in 50 degrees C with no servicing. The reason I bought an LS400 was because i'd seen LS400's out there which were 10 years old, had never been serviced and were still going. Nearly all other cars break after a very short time out there (especially hyundai's and yank tanks). In nearly every car dealer you can get massive discounts on new cars (Focus for £7K and kia rio's for £3.5K) but Toyota's hardly ever do deals, they don't need to. The landcruiser is the vehicle of choice out there.
  15. I thinkthe "Rolly-mo" looks cool. Especially inside and from the side. I travel over 3000 miles for work and i'd rather be in that than the 2004 CDTi corsa i'm currently using (wifeys). The LS is way too thirsty for that many miles (so my wife uses that as she only works about 10 miles away). Even the GT loremo does nearly 100MPG and a claimed 137MPH (out of 50HP). I think if people look beyond the looks (which is personal anyway) they'll see it's a massive step forward in car design technology. Unless the site's a wind-up, in which case it's a load of sh*te and i knew it wasn't real.
  16. You might find that's the problem. I switched to MP3CD Converter as nero was actually corrupting my MP3 files when it converted them. Try the speed change first but now I use MP3CD converter I never get any problems, even at 12x or more.
  17. Too many times :duh: I'm an ex head doorman/ boxer but have never done much martial arts, although I appreciate their value in certain situations. I've worked with men with credentials as long as your arm and arms as big as tree trunks who shrank/ disappeared when you needed them most. Some of the most fearsome men i've fought with /seen fight have had no training but natural grace/ timing power which cannot be learnt. Many martial arts will not work in a club/pub without as i'm sure pip and others can back me up on this. I've seen too many people do the "karate kid" stance to take it too seriously, and I know when it's for real. Pip, judo on its own isn't great but with the background you've already got it would definitely be a good route to go down. Personally for me the floor is a horrible place to fight but i've ended up there a few times when it "goes off". Personally even talking about fighting nowadays gives me a sick feeling, so i'm off for a lie down. Respect to all ;) Adz
  18. Well you say you've not had any trouble, but it looks like you're on the pavement in your pictures mate. You haven't tinted the front one as well have you? :D
  19. My LS400 averages 26-28 MPG. Blimey, that doesn't seem very good for a diesel. I hope it gets better as the engine gets run in, as that's the same MPG as most of the IS250's are getting.
  20. Congratulations to you and your family :D :D :D
  21. Great cars , drove my mates one in Saudi(badged a chevy lumina ss over there but part of the GM group), solid as a rock at 150MPH and a pussycat to drive . Be careful though. Them big V8's are so addictive and it's REALLY hard not to keep flooring it and grinning like a buffoon and using up all your petrol. Basically i'm well jealous You'll love it
