  1. Not sure if it will work or you've tried it already, but if you disconnect the battery for a few seconds then reconnect it you may reset the logic. Bear in mind any settings will also reset as well though, (gearbox, ecu, seats stereo etc) before you try it. I'd wait for more advice before you try this though as there be may another way. Good luck :)
  2. I wrote "Gay and proud" on the left side of my Dads Silver ML a couple of years ago and he drove up to London with people bibbing and waving at him. He's about 20 stone and bald. Luckily, he didn't see the funny side . :tsktsk: :tsktsk:
  3. I only heard about it on Top-gear last night. That's a great tribute on that link Bazza. I feel really sad now.
  4. My toys. Go anywhere in the world and never leave work :D .
  5. Welcome to the LOC firstly :D I've seen quite a few Mk 4's around for your budget, just take your time and find a good one as i'm sure you know how easy it is to get ripped off. I actually bought my MK2 off e-bay a year ago as a runaround but love it so much I never want to sell it. good luck and there's loads of knowledge on this site if you need more advice. Also, the US site (the link is at the top of the page) has tonnes of info. on the LS which you can look through. All the best in your search Adz
  6. I think they look tacky. A good way to make a car look cheap though, so no-one nicks it. Awful
  7. I'm sorry to hear about your car Niraj. We all know how long you waited for it too. keep ya head up.
  8. What did he expect the way he was driving? Don't look at the tree...Don't look at the tree... Don't look at the tree...Don't look at the tree... Opoops :D :D :D :D :D :D Target fixation, what a beeeeaaaatch!
  9. I'm pretty sure that's a VFR400 in the pic and so it couldn't have been travelling at that speed(you'd be lucky to get 140). It could be an RC30 (VFR750RR) but I don't think so as he'd only just got his license and the RC30 is not a novice bike and also damned expensive. Me too, although travelling at high speed into a side of a car at a 90 degree angle could be enough to puncture the side of the car while also encasing the bike. Then the momentum could roll the car over as the energy would have to go somewhere. Either way it's bad news for all concerned. Of course if he'd been going faster he wouldn't have been there, thus avoiding an accident .
  10. My best mate's a traffic cop in wilts. and he loves the lexii, he reckons them and the unmarked Honda Accord type S (blue with graphite wheels) are the only cars they've never had problems with. He also used a marked up LS430 on a B-road pursuit and said it was fast but scary. He reckons Jags are :tsktsk: , but we all knew that. I've just been biking to France (to all the landing beaches and cemeteries) with 5 other ex-forces mates (all traffic cops). 2 of them are advanced bike pursuit instructors and ride so smooth and fast it's absolutely unbelievable. Even when I thought I was motoring on my blade they were still sitting there on their big tourers right behind. I picked up loads of tips so to anyone who rides a bike( I know sme of you guys do) i'd recommend the bikesafe courses the traffic police run as it WILL make you faster and safer and it's free as long as you turn up.
  11. I'm sure one of the legal chaps (rozzers or lawyers) will clarify things for sure but as far as modifying your reg plate I believe it carries a big fine and points and they can even take your vehicle( especially as you'll be classed as a "repeat offender". Failure to display a plate (which is also the same offence as having a small number plate, like you see on many motorbikes) is only a £20 or £30 fine with no points. I may be wrong and the law may have changed. If I were you i'd swap the plate back and get one which makes sense without having to alter anythng.
  12. Congratulations! :D :D It's an amazing feeling when you hold your child for the first time, and all the times after that come to think of it. Great news.
  13. They've got some awesome catseyes on a small stretch of road on the A338 between Downton and salisbury which are amazingly bright and when you go past they stay lit for ages. It was a bit wierd when I saw them in my mirror though as I thought I was going the wrong way :)
  14. Welcome to the club, it's good to see more LS owners joining. :D As for your questions, I think leadfoot's covered most of them. The problems you have are the main LS faults and there will be loads of help in he US forums. It's always best to check there as there's loads more LS models there (It was packaged for the yanks after all) Before you replace the PS pump make sure it isn't just a seal (a common problem) as these are a couple of quid and can be fixed as long as you're handy with spanners, which it sounds like you are.Don't just ignore it though as they can leak onto the alternator on Series 1's and ruin that as well. My aerial also stays up, the climate control displays are OK, except first thing in the morning( there's a guy who fixes them on ebay who's highly recommended on here) and the wheels are shabby (i've been told about £30 a wheel by a few different places) As leadfoot said the thud is normal on an auto (within reason) and i've just checked my keyhole illumination, which doesn't work either. Most S1 and S2 LS400 owners have/ have had these problems so it looks like you've got a good deal to me. I expect you had the same question as most LS newbie's when you were gliding 250 miles back home- "Why didn't it cost more?" It's because people are scared of the fuel bills/ things going wrong. (I get about 25 MPG average and up to 30 on a run.)
  15. Happy Birthday. :D Here's to many more ;)
  16. Aren't the Porsche Cayenne and the AMG ML Mercedes high performance SUV's? I'm sure there are performance versions of BMW's X5 and VW's Toureg as well. He's still a :tsktsk: though. I'd still watch him on Top gear though, he's entertaining (even though he slags off bikes/ bike riders because he's even more inept at riding them than he is at driving cars)
  17. Jonny Allen ( the gangstarr) in Eastenders, has got an LS.
  18. Multi-faith group hug , anyone? :D
  19. If you're an asian muslim you don't get off work in Saudi either and believe me the asian guys put in serious overtime at Ramadan covering for everyone else, with no extra money of course. You shouldn't get off work because you're fasting, but as with the bible, the Quran is interpreted differently by different people. It basically comes down to "he who has the gold makes the rules".(or in this case oil) ....I hope that wasn't aimed at me, i'm not religious (i'm a disciple of Adz-ism).
  20. I didn't have a lexus in Saudi, as a good car is wasted over there. I had a focus(which I loved as it was 7 grand brand new). I used to listen to MP3's as all the tapes/cd's used to melt. You had to turn the stereo right down so they couldn't hear it outside the car or the religious police would give you a good shoe-ing.
  21. PS. How the heck do you guys manage to fast for a whole month ? I can't go 3 hours without calories
  22. Sky+ is awesome. Everyone thinks i'm on commission 'cos i'm always gushing about it. Series link is great and what we do if there's 2 programmes on at the same time on BBC and Channel 4/ITV is record the one on 4/ITV and watch the one on BBC in "realtime", then watch the recorded one fastforwarding all the adverts/ titles, it saves ages. Blimey, here I go again... :mat: Highly recommended :D
  23. My mate just paid me to let you know the website. Its www.asapi.co.uk - American Sports and Performance Imports - none the less!!!
  24. Obviously I don't remember songs like that, but: "My mate" reckons it was "rollin" in my 5.0, not cruisin'
