  2. Yeah if the chrome and black are reversed it’s because it’s a post-2022 car.
  3. That is very interesting and very useful - thanks for posting. If the flattened out baked bean tin…. sorry, Lexus RX security solution can be reshaped with rudimentary tools so it can be nailed to non-RX lexuseses that’s a big plus. I’ll ask my dealer if this is possible for the LC.
  4. Hassle your dealers and Lexus themselves. Regularly. April has come and gone. The only cars with any solution so far are the RX and even then you have to know there’s a problem, know there’s a solution available and know to ask your dealer - there’s no evidence anyone is actively promoting this to owners. I’d also argue riveting bits of tinplate over stuff in the wheelarch in the vain hope it’ll stop an entire global network/industry in its tracks isn’t exactly going to be a permanent solution once thieves find another access point to the canbus system eg tailgate, tail lights, under the car etc.
  5. Any recommendations for a decent Techstream cable please? thanks
  6. Not sure I’d trust a real no name Chinese special - I had some real junk off Amazon for my old Landcruiser - something nongenuine but branded eg KYB, Bilstein, Sachs should be ok as they supply OEM anyway.
  7. You’ll be behind me in the queue - as an LC owner who’s already bought an immobiliser because Lexus are useless - I can guarantee it. Trust me, I’ll be carrying more than a pitchfork! Any stipulation for Lexus’s own insurance being needed to qualify for an Immobiliser would be incredibly shortsighted of them. Mentioned above too - the RX is the only car with an actual solution so far and it takes 3 weeks to order the plates in? Eh?! Every dealer should be carrying stock, every dealer should be fitting plates to every eligible car that passes through their doors, and every dealer should be running their databases and contacting every owner of an RX to get their cars in for fitment. Meh. Did they say which April exactly?
  8. Bit late in replying but glad it was a simple fix! Most of the leads off Amazon etc are junk - I’ve replaced quite a few after they’ve failed to charge. I’ve got some braided ones in both cars now which seem to be lasting better.
  9. They did say it was owned by an ex Lexus employee, although they clearly didn’t want me to see the V5C and the previous owner. Cambridge Lexus have contacted me today basically saying I’ll have to go through the ombudsman. Contacted Lexus GB head office and they have contacted the dealership, but it’s more of courtesy from them, they don’t seem to have any sway with the dealerships in these ‘small’ matters. I spoke with Lexus Financial Services and they seemed more helpful and are doing an investigation, not sure how long that is or the sincerity of it. Lastly I’ve contacted someone from the ombudsman page for a report, seemed helpful enough. I think this is the only way I’ll get anywhere. There was a similar case where the buyer of a 20k Audi A6 won against the dealer so that’s some hope.
  10. Correct tires should be 255/35/18 rear and 225/40/18 front
  11. How far had you driven with the tyres incorrectly placed? Are the tyres even on the correct rims? The wider, rear tyres are also on slightly wider rims. If you’ve had the wheels balanced then the tyre pressures should have also been checked. If you open the driver’s door there should be a tyre information panel near the door lock. You might have to consider having the tracking checked. Look for uneven tyre wear across the tread and signs of scuffing - all indications that adjustments are needed. If it’s been MOT’d recently then that should have exposed any general wear in the steering and suspension that might cause it to run down into the camber of the road.
  12. I just figured it out! You don't actually twist. Mine slides upwards right off. The key fob looks just like the ones on video (3rd gen GS) but ti slides off after mechanical key has been removed. I am glad I didn't damage it.
  13. Does anyone know when the 2004 model will be launched in the UK ? Thank you
  14. So i had funny situation. I felt vibration on highway so i went to balance wheels. At workshop it turned out i installed the tires wrong (245/40/18 front and 225/40/18 rear) because previous owner didnt even mention different width and i didnt pay attention. Problem is that at workshop they put wider tires to rear as it is supposed to be i think. Now it feels like car is always pulling somewhere. I dont know how to explain it. Its like its gripping every curb.
  15. Nice! One week into my new NX ownership and like you Steve I’m delighted with the car.
  16. If it’s the same as mine, you remove the mechanical key and put a flat bladed screwdriver into the hole that’s revealed. A gentle twist or prying should then open the key case. Lexus recommends that you wrap the blade in a strip of scotch tape to prevent it marking the case. Just make sure you replace the battery with the same face up!
  17. Hello, I have seen several videos demonstrating battery replacement but I just cannot take the key fob apart. My key fob does not have a hole for the mechanical key to twist. Its just not there. I tried to insert the mechanical key somewhere around there, kept twisting it but it just doesn't look healthy. Its not coming apart and I dont want to break anything. How do I take it apart? :(
  18. QUITE PREFER the ebay blue one at a silly price maybe ............... sure a great project for someone Malc
  19. So, 6 months in now, just under 8k.. traction started at 38 now up to 55 as a full charge. Resetting monthly and now achieving 3.4mile per kWh. Lots of motorway driving so happy with this return. I anticipate that as we move towards warmer months now it’ll creep up towards late 50’s. Decent performance all round now. for May covered over 1200 miles, 750+ of which was in EV (61%) As a result combined mpg for May: 101.7mpg. Typical charge of up to 14.8kWh, on a decent off peak tariff (7.9p kWh) so costing £1.15 ish for a full charge.. also able to take advantage of a Hive smart charge offer which credits back half of the cost based on off peak grid availability. As such I’m charging at around 4p per kWh. Cheap motoring..!! Just over a 1p per mile on EV. All Reset for June now
  20. I watch and save many of the later SC430’s on the AutoTrader app, this one has been for sale the longest at 30 weeks, not sure what’s wrong with it other than the price . http://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202310233251809
  21. Hi guys Just wondering if anyone has information on headlight level controllers for an 2001 sxe10? Living in Ireland and a few years back I was forced to remove my HID Headlights because I have no level controller for them, like most cars have, which is a fail on the NCT over here. Ive gone back to standard bulbs using is200 connectors. Its just not the same. If there is an option to fit headlight level controllers...? Appreciate any information, Cheers
  22. Nice blue one on Ebay, High Wycombe, 120k, currently £225 but needs resurrection... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/276486045724
  23. It does fit Colin. I've rang the FCA today and found out that they have now authorised some GAP insurance sales; I managed to get a policy for a reasonable price. I might go back to NFU next week and try and find out why the discrepancy between lease and the likes of PCP and why I wasn't made aware of it. I did look at Arriva's policy and that is the same as NFU.
