10 year warranty. Mileage slightly over
wharfhouse replied to Casa1862's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Are you sure rears need doing (unless they were sticking in which case it will need more than just discs and pads to stop it happening again) - my car still has original discs and pads at the rear at 147k miles and still plenty of life left in the pads. Might just need a good clean? -

Interesting, because paper money is almost the same. All it says is "I promise to pay the bearer". Note the word "promise". I might argue that an insurance policy is perhaps a stronger form of contract than the paper in your wallet.

Confirmed that no leeway with relax by dealer. found rear brakes binding slightly which was probably the cause of the noise. Discs and pads will need replacing soon, £508 front, £490 rear…painful. They are not mot failure so I’ll get them done soon, will try local garage first, don’t think it will be £1k!! -

Sorry, you’re wrong, it was actually more generous, 30 days or 2000 miles from schedule service interval. I remember pushing it myself right to the 2k limit. This was for the extended warranty after the 3 year manufacturer, 2 or 1 offer. Item (d) under T&C’s. -
That's awful news Jules. However take on board what Len said. Buy the car back and with what's left of the insurance money which I'm guessing will be a couple grand you'll just need to find a good body shop. OR you could take the car to your Lexus dealer to see what they thought and get a quote. Get the quote in writing and itemised items that may need to be bought. Then if it's reasonable let them do it or take your list to a good recommend body shop. Either way it'll be cheaper than buying another unknown car. I got just under £5k for my 2007 SE-L is250 last August when I wrote it off.

The Avon factory at Melksham has indeed closed and the brand, mainly & historically associated with motorsport, is apparently being renamed Nova (name reversal) under new management. This might align with the racing fraternity but there's no mention that I can find of the consequences of the closure on the public market. I run on Avon AS7s (R18s) and am extremely happy with them. It is rumoured that there should be sufficient stock levels for most normal road requirements throughout 2024 but no info about what happens thereafter.

Hi Jane. Look on ebay for the latest available version. If memory serves it'll be a 2011 disc. What I'm concerned with however is the message No Disc. Look on YouTube how to change the disc. It's easy but to explain would take an age. You'll need 2 very thin screwdrivers, like watch makers screwdrivers.

Unfortunately an insurance policy is just a piece of paper until you need to make a claim, then you find out if the policy is any good. My personal experience is LV were very good, Direct Line a nightmare.

Yes, the first thing I would check is the passenger seatbelt buckle. Sometimes they do not retract fully and the buckle ends up getting caught and tapping the B pillar. -

Standard insurance provided by individuals who, in actuality, are rather nasty people and very negative who probably couldn't function in any other field of work

Agree, but because I know that the issue lies within the metal tube that the blind rolls into after I removed the door card I'm wondering if it might come under the warranty. This is not really a trim item which is not covered but more of a mechanical defect. There is nothing externally to tighten up or re secure. With the door card in place and if I gently bang the top of the door card it's obvious something has detached itself or become loose. I'll ask the dealer for an opinion when it has it's 7th year service in August otherwise I'll just live with it.

Of course. Clearly your untested opinion is the only one allowed. 😁 -
I had an email conversation with Lexus Croydon and it takes about 3 weeks for them to order the plates. I will be getting mine fitted when I get the annual service. Still sucks about the insurance as rates are now 2.5x of what we pay now and our current insurance provider LV won't insure the RX. Hopefully, the rumoured software fix is available sometime this year! 🤞

I had duellers on an old Rav4 and didn't find them great in the wet tbh nor mileage that good for a premium tyre. I changed them to Yokohamas which were better on that car. One tyre on my current RX is a dueller, presumably fitted as the owner couldn't get the OE Dunlops after a puncture or something. It's practically new. It's a shame really but no point in me changing both fronts for something different to what's on each back corner, so I'll keep the Dueller as an emergency spare tyre and maybe find a used rim to stick it on rather than use a space saver if needed. The oems are sportmaxx tyres and sporty, they're not. On a test drive on a dry roundabout, without pushing on too hard, they squealed their way around the roundabout! My Rx3 on the same route simply gripped like a limpet when fitted with the Zx7 Avons. The Sportmax tyres on mine has one rear half worn, two fronts well worn with the edge treads showing cracking across the rubber and one of them has a screw embedded in it, so really I'm left with little choice but to change all four. It came from the dealership with this mishmash of tyres, as they weren't keen on replacing them for me on a premium car at a premium price. Not impressed but wanted that particular model which is hard to find locally.

Anyone had any issues with lexus insurance. I was involved in an incident last friday 24th (not my fault) since then nothing has happened, despite numerous calls. A replacement car is still pending (they cant get a hold of the 3rd parties insurance company) they have contacted me twice wish id taken up their offer to claim thru them! all Lexus were interested in was finding a way to invalidate my claim. Accused me of advising damage to a part of the car that wasn’t mentioned and told me because I was driving home from work I should have business insurance, all whilst telling me Im a valued customer.

You'd be pushing it a bit at 65% if you wanted to do 100 miles, no real wriggle room for any extra use if anything unplanned happened.

My advice for any rattle or noise coming from a new car is to take it back to the dealer. They are usually very good at sorting it out. I hate any rattles and the few I have had have been sorted very fast by the dealer. -
