Anyone recommend a roof box?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone used a roof box on an IS250?  Would be interested to hear of experiences (wind noise etc)  Will only be using for a couple of weeks a year although coming from a Honda CRV means I'm really going to need one 🙂

Not on an IS but we have a (what was) Volvo badged Thule box. Either a Touring S or Touring M. Can't remember. Good quality and no wind noise with the Thule Wing Bars.

We only use ours a couple of times a year too so got them on eBay for an absolute steal. Good quality new ones are eye wateringly expensive.

I have my on IS220D and you can just heare them above 100KPH and if the radio if off. Anyways, I am very pleased with it, and also, the fuel average din´t raise  a lot.

So, yes I think it is a good option, as the trunk on IS is so smoll and limited due to big part falling off for the wheel arch.

Hope this helps

You generally find it's the roof bars that are the noisy item, not the box.

I'd seriously recommend wisp-bars. They are the quietest on the market and if you change cars, then for less than 30 quid you can change the mounting so they fit the next car.

I've had my set 5 years now. They are great. Silent at 80-100mph. I leave them on for months at a time. No impact in fuel economy that I've detected.

You can get them at www.roofbox.co.uk.

Customer service is second to none.

You will require T track mounts for the roofbox for the whisp bars. They are a wide airplane wing type so U bolts don't fit them.

The roof boxes I won't recommend are Halfords exodus / Thule copy.

Rubbish.

Kamei are probably the best and are regular winners in roofbox tests on auto express.
