Hi All,

Time has flown by, it’s been just under year since I bought my GS450h from a Lexus dealership. 
The car has a one year warranty coming up to finishing. 
I’ve noticed the left headlight flickers occasionally and pulls to the left a little too. 
The car had a 90k service when I bought it and has done just under 5k miles this year. 
What’s the best thing to do with a service?? Another interim or the 100k service early? If I did an interim would I still get the new 1year warranty too? I am hoping that any issues with the car will be dealt with under the currently warranty when the car goes in for a service. 
Also seems like this may be the last extended warranty I’ll be able to get given the car will be over 10yrs old after this!

Rajinder,

The headlight flickering is the bulb reaching the end of its life. The right will follow shortly. Both should be replaced but that will not be covered under warranty.

I don't know for sure but I doubt tracking - if that is the problem causing pulling to left - will not be covered by warranty either.

Fortunately tracking adjustment and bulb replacement are straightforward jobs and need not be expensive You don't need a Lexus dealer to do those jobs.

If you're hoping to get some sort of warranty from Lexus then you'll need to stick to the Lexus servicing schedule of 10k miles or 12 months, whichever comes sooner and you'll have to have done whatever it says you should have done.

As @Herbie states above Lexus servicing is 10k miles or 12 months, whichever comes sooner and I would also agree that unless you stick to the correct servicing schedule you probably won't get the 'free' 12 month warranty.

As John @OldTrout correctly states the headlight bulb flickering means it is about to fail and this is not a warranty item. 

With regards to the car pulling to the left, have you checked the NSF tyre pressure? Maybe something as simple as that.

Thanks all.
I read somewhere that lights flickering meant the whole unit (not just the bulb needed changing) -though maybe be mistaken. 
 

It’s been 12months since the last service, so is due one even though not many miles this past year. 
Is it worth getting the ‘free’ warranty from a dealership or just go to a specialist? Any problems to be expected for a 10yr old Lexus that it’s worth having warranty for? Wouldn’t be able to get one after this year in any case. 

 

I wondered if it made sense to do a Lexus service for this one since it’s still in warranty so if any issues thrown up they might be covered.

If you still have the Lexus Extended Warranty(LEC) then have the car serviced while you still have the cover, notwithstanding the low mileage since the last service.

Once the  LEC is up then the car falls to be warranted under the new RELAX regime and your Hybrid Battery Warranty will be included within each future service until it is 15 years old.

We do not yet have any experience of how warranty claims will be handled under the new regime.

If you wish to have the car serviced by a Trusted Indie, rather than by Lexus under the RELAX regime you may still pay for the annual hybrid warranty test, I believe.

I spoke with my local dealership who commented "as yet we have seen no claim being made via Relax" so unable to state how functional the system is. However, intriguingly, there is the prospect of some form of warranty/Service extension beyond 10 years on the horizon? Beyond that I have no further information to share.

When the claims made  under RELAX are approved at the rate of 80% or more, we will have a satisfied membership. 

When 80% of claims made are refused because they could not be attributed to a manufacturing or assembly failure the cry of "foul" will be heard throughout the membership and consequences will surely follow.
