Bang goes the cheap services

So i can assume you do not use a dealer or specialist to service your car then !!!

Given that my car is only just over 3 years old yes, it's still going to the dealers at the moment under service plans and extended warranty, but once it reaches about 6 or 7 years old then it'll be going to my local trusted garage for everything unless it's for something to do with the hybrid system (my guy doesn't have the gear to do hybrid work).

I'm still going to the Lexus dealer - my IS 300h is now over 7 years old and 114K miles. Personally I'm happy with the services they provide and the communications I have with them regards any issues and so plan to continue using them. If I wasn't happy I would look to change though and it's a shame that some Lexus dealerships appear to be letting the brand down.

My car is 12 years old and I use Lexus for servicing. I checked pricing with my nearest specialists and there wasn't much difference, so I took out a Lexus service plan. I have a local garage I use for other work if and when needed.

The main reason I've stuck with Lexus for servicing though is that I have an extended warranty that I can run until the car is 15 years old.

Gawd n Bennett. As Steve said above. Give it a rest. I'm of the impression that trolls step in and post self righteous crap. And for crying out loud there are companies like for example trust a trader where folk look for a trade's person. Garages are in there too. Not all lexus garages are good. Some are ruddy awful some are outstanding, same as any other trade. If someone hasn't come across a 'good' trade's person then either they're a liar or just haven't bothered looking long or hard enough. Here endeth my sermon. Thank you 😊

Trust a trader, you must be joking. Any clown can join a "trade organisation" if they pay the joining fee. These outfits just take money for nothing. I believe not many genuine traders would give them their hard earned. I would not when i was on the tools.

Just had mine serviced. £420 including new plugs. Used Auto centre in Chorley Lancs. Took a while to find someone i trusted but quite happy. Only thing is they suggested i replace the tyres and their in house selection was not to my liking.

I think missing out on Lexus Relax would be a false economy, but it's your car and your choice as to how you spend your money.

Look pal, I only used trust a trader as an example. Just coz YOU don't like them DON'T dis me. And for the record those kind of companies not only rely on traders paying a fee to join but for the punters who from their personal experience write a review of which there are ones full of praise and those saying things like 'don't touch with a barge pole'.

Oh and my experience and that of friends they are a damn good source for a trade's person.

...I'm with Linas...on a 2000's Lexus paying overs to obtain a stamp in the book is a complete waste of money...I have had so many bad experiences from main dealers and independents that I do all of my work... if you can't do your own servicing and repairs then finding a reasonably priced and reliable competent garage is a lottery...

It is funny that you mentioned Lexus Woodford in relation to your service/oil change.

I contacted them for a yearly service on my RX450H and the price was over £100 dearer that the dealer whom i purchased the car from.

So I took the vehicle back to Lexus Sidcup, I know that it is a way from my home but it was worth it, great service and customer focused.

I mentioned this to Lexus Sidcup and they said that the servicing should be the same price.

Interesting!!!

Prices for servicing are listed on the Lexus website and so easy to see if the dealer is sticking to that or charging differently.

It is possible that they quoted you wrong price, maybe they quoted for say current RX450h and your car is older. Or maybe Sidcup automatically applied "essential" discount for cars over 5 years old. Don't forget that people who book the cars in for service have no clue about the cars (this is generally true for all makes), so they sometimes make mistakes and you need to raise it with them and I am sure they would charge you right price.
