Front suspension brace bars

On the recent MOT it was noted that these were corroded, one severely. I have had them replaced. Never has such a simple job transformed the drive more unexpectedly, drives like a new car now. If anyone has that slight shimmy at around 50/60 mph that some mention, I'd change these first before embarking on expensive suspension mods.

Hi Nick

Do you have the part number and cost please?

H Nigel, Sorry for the delay, I've not been getting notifications that I can see. P/N 52257-24010 & 52258-24010 (left & right). Cost was £67.35 each and I was charged £50 labour....It's bloody marvelous.

Hi Nick

Thanks for that, I was contemplating what the first step should be when tackling suspension improvement and I think your idea gets 1st prize!

How many miles has your car done and is it believed that the ones replaced were the originals?

(A pic would have been brilliant)

Hi Anthony,

I kept the manky ones that came off. I will take some pics and post them over the next few days. It's such a blindingly obvious thing to do (post event obvs🙂) considering the amount of work they have to do and the twisting effect constantly on them. My car has just passed 76k and they look like the originals. I cannot emphasise enough the magic it has worked on the driving experience.

Best regards.

Here is the ugly evidence. I reckon the nearside one weighed only half of it's replacement. As someone who is pretty fastidious about maintenance and safety, I was frankly shocked and embarrassed about the state of these. Simple to ignore and overlook. To reiterate, not surprisingly (in hindsight) this change has totally transformed the front end driving experience.

Best regards.

Nick

Thanks once again Nick for your post.

Had the pair fitted today (also paid £50 for fitting) and had a surprise.

The left brace was slightly rusted but the right one was completely missing! All the bolts were in place but the brace was missing?

Now both new ones are fitted and the car drives great. A 150% improvement.

Is this just for the SC 430 or are these “ braces “ on other models too ?

Malc

These are specific to the SC as they took the already relatively twisty GS chassis and needed to strengthen it because of the lack of roof.
