Heated Seats

Hi there, i've managed to fit my electric leather seats in my lexus s model. Just wanted to know if anybody knows if there are existing wires in the car so i can connect the heated seats up. I got the switches and there is wiring behind the dash for the switches, just cant find the wiring for the seats under the carpet.

Thanks,

Alex

Not too sure if i got this right, I need to run an extra power cable to the seat coming straight from the Battery . Does the relay have to be connected to the switches that i have so that they can turn the heaters on and off. Would the heaters not get too hot or do they need a timer for them to turn back off again.

Sorry for all the questions, just dont wanna mess up my new interior.

Look at the current of your seat heaters - you'll probably find they are only 5 - 10A. Your switches may well be within this range, especially if they are quite large.

It will just be a case of from the power source to the switches, then directly to the heaters.

If the switch isn't within the max current then you'll have to put a relay or two in.

Most have a built in thermostat. I can't imagine any that wouldn't but best to check first.

There are connections already for this but it's getting the connectors that will be difficult, so it's probably is best to run your own power source and fuse to be on the safe side.

Got in from club and thought of posting up Mr ScarFace.

I've got the original switches for the heated seats and thats why i wanna make use of them. There are about 5 wires coming from the loom going to one of the switches. Still cant find a second loom for the other switch. Will i be able to use the original switches?

Did you find out what the five connections were? I'm figuring that illumination will be one, earth, power for the 'on' light, and presumably too and from the relay? Just thought someone might know and save me having to get my tester out... I know, I know.. lazy git :)

Still have not worked out what the wires are for as there is no power coming from any of the wires. I guess for now i will just have to leave it until i can get a mate with a lexus to check it out.
