I would try a leather cleaner first to see if it would shift it - if not then I wiould very cautiously try turps (damped onto a cloth only) then follow with a leather treatment straight away to ensure the leather did not dry out ...

Try looking up Glipton (or Gliptone) on the WWW for any info. - their stuff is very good.

Yes their stuff is very good. Whatever you use to remove the paint will also probably remove the dye. If you send off a headrest or something to these guys they will make you up a dye to match. They will probably also be able to advise the best thing to remove the paint.
