Supercharger Or Turbo

Im new to the forum I probably feel the same as a lot of you fellas that my IS200 sport could do with a little more poke under the bonnet. I dont want to sell the car and go for a tezza and I like my driving and dont want a girly auto box so thats the IS300 out of the equation. So i think that leaves me with two options, supercharger or turbo. What are the power increases, cost and ease of fitting required for both?

Help please Lads

The supercharger is superb ,the sound is awesome and easy to insure too with it being a totota part.you can pick one up for as little as 1200 quid and easily fit it yourself .a nice cheap addition of loads of power.

the turbo is costly and you may end up popping your engine as some members have .

good luck.

Mr morse you are very touchy about your box arnt you

I don't see what the big deal is?

The IS300 auto box is the best auto that I've driven. And with an easy upgrade, capable of handling +400rwhp as mine soon will! Can't do that with a stick shift without spending some big dinaro.

I dont know of any of the members with a turbo that have posted in this thread ( I like how we all managed to post one after the other) that have "popped an engine". The only one i think was Mike (RoadRash) or Spock but the circumstances were totally different and was expecting it to happen.

Oh and did I say...TURBO

Thanks for your help lads, i think ill go for the cheaper option of a supercharger. Mainly because I felt the IS200 needed a bit more power to get the best out of it but i didnt want to spend too much money on it or spend many hours tinkering with it. ( I have another "weekend" car which Ill spend my time tinkering with). Thanks for all your comments and help lads.

Phil

ps i still think autos are for the elderly, infirm or girls!!

whats you is300 pumping out and whats your toyota mrs pumping out?

IS = 195rwhp / 196ft/lbs dyno confirmed......that's at the wheels

MR2 = dunno not been on the dyno yet but 240bhp fly as standard

(BTW the MRS is the wimpy Mk3 version, for old ladies, hairdressers and woofters)

thought the mr2 was a 96 so mrk2 **** settup version. ive seen them nicely tuned to a lot more than any lexus IS300 ive ever seen!!!

The MR(S) came out in 2000. The last Mk2 was the Rev5 in 1998.

Yep.....there's one MR2 that puts out over 700rwhp :D

But there are IS300's that put out 900 :winky:
