Cant Remove The Number Plate Screws

I got some new number plates problem is i cant undo the screws i have rounded the the screws thay wont budge dont want to grind them off as i might damage the car any idea's

I had the same problem 6 months ago when I went to put my new plates on, I had to gauge out the old screws using a lot of bute force hammer and screwdriver and, I just used sticky pads to put on the new plates and that covered any holes left by the previous screws it looks a lot nicer without the screws showing anyway

If it's the back no.plate .... take off the carpet liner on the boot lid and use a vice grip on the screws from the inside :)

Maybe a bit late if the screw have been rounded but apparently a couple of drops of vinegar on a tight\rusty screw works a treat.

the rear number plate should be held on with plastic screws to prevent them rusting into the threads in the trunk lid

try puttin some vice-grips on the end of the screw??

Soaked them in wd40 until it was driping off the car on to the drive! still no luck tryed everything in the grided them off was suprised my e30 m3 was on a e plate and the screw were not seized on that

Yes I agree, Hate having screws in plates, makes them look a mess, esp when they rust

The first thing I so when I get a new car is get a new set of clean plates and stick them on with pads

I had the same problem when I first fitted my plates. Used a reverse drill bit to get it out. Put the drill in reverse and the drill bit unscrews it :winky: . Then covered the holes with some masking tape for insulation and stuck my new ones on.
