Smashed Drivers Mirror Is200

Recommended Posts

Just got back to the car in the supermarket car park AND someone had clumped the offisde door mirror and smashed the glass.

Note left on windscreen as in 'sorry mate heres my address - bill me when you get it fixed' - NOT

Anyway guys and gals:

Cost of glass please and part number if anyone knows and a quick resume of how to get the old glass out and refit the new piece

(IS200 SE 1999 AUTO)

I haven't got a LEXUS dealer near me, but my usual garage is a spot on mob - so if I can help them out with part numbers etc and have an idea of the cost of doing the job

:D

sorry, i have no idea as the details of the mirror glass, but as it is heated/ motorised i do suspect that it may not be as simple as changing the mirror glass - may well be an assembly? which would equal £££'s

1) Move the mirror all the way up.

2) Insert a screw driver behind it and pry it upwards. This will release the lower portion of the mirror

3) Keep moving the mirror up and the upper section of the mirror should also come loose.

4) unplug the heater wires

5) Putting it back is just the reverse and you can easily figure out the best way for you to put it back together since you've seen the whole assembly.

 As a newcomer to the Lexus scene, would someone tell me about the mirrors.

I know that they can fold inwards by the button in the car, BUT if someone should side-swipe them do they 'spring' inwards/outwards as a saftey caution, OR do they just BREAK !!?? and at the same time break the fold-in motor/cogs.

;)

Please let me know

They fold inwards if you hit something while driving forwards.

this has happend to me at 5mph, I just pushed the switch to close them and pushed it again to open them and its been working fine ever since without problem

They fold both ways if they're clonked hard enough. If you're lucky they stay in one piece too.
