I Hate The Rear View Mirroe

I cannot get used to the "fish eye view" out of the rear view mirror (why did they make them like that, it just makes things behind seem further away than they really are). Does anyone know if I can replace it with a normal mirror? My mirror is attached to the roof as opposed to the windscreen. Lexus tell me they do not make the usual sort of mirror but I really would like to find one.

Im sure it wouldnt be too difficult to change, would probably be, take that one out and get a VW glue on type.

you get used to it after a few days and actually prefer it as it allows you to see a lot more.

Thanks Aaron. However, I would rather get another mirror to slot in otherwise the empty holder on the roof might look odd. I am near Harwich by the way.

agreed, i hated it at first,but dont like the mirrors in other cars now

my current IS200 sport has the wide angle lens you are talking about but my old IS200 se had just a standard mirror so they must be available.

They are available. I test drove an SE with a wide-angle mirror (which I disliked) but the car I eventually bought had a standard mirror fitted. So ordinary flat-glass mirrors are definitely available for the IS200...

Seen the same while test driving Altezzas, most have the normal mirror but one had the "bus-drivers" one.... totally put me off that car...

I've had my SE for just under 2 months now. When i first started driving i really noticed it but after a couple of days you'll get used to it. As said above the wide angle lets you see alot more than a standard mirror.

The car I test drove when I bought mine had that mirror and almost put me off the car too until the salesman told me that newer cars didn't have that.

It was changed in post 2001 cars, my 02 plate has a normal mirror - I'm guessing the fixings must be the same so shouldn't be too hard to get hold of one of the newer mirrors and swap them over?
