Quick Question On Insurence

To elaberate on the topic

1. I had a minor bump in a car park (no Fault on my part)

2. the guy asked me to get a qoute which I did £375 and send him the estimate he would pay without involving insurences

3. Guy did not expect a bill of £375 so we end up going through insurence companies

4.BMW insurence people call me admitting full responsibilty for the accident and will cover all costs therefore I would not need to involve my own insurence

Question is Do I or don't I need to tell them?

Thanks

Gordon

Yup, you do. You have a duty to disclose all accidents, fault or not. Anyway, better to be honest now than to have to argue the case if they find out later on when you need to claim.

Your policy booklet should say when you need to inform your insurance company. Generally it is required that you tell your insurance company regardless of fault. They should be handling the claim for you anyway to make sure it all goes as it should.

yes you need to tell them, and unfortunatley not all insurance companies don't price in for no fault claims. At last renewal my insurance company (Allianz) put the premium up due to a no fault fully reimbursed claim. I moved to someone who didn't.

As the shunt happened on -presumably - private land, the other guys management firm will not put it through their insurance if under a certain amount and you agree. My wife had a Dray hit her in pub carpark and her insurers were going to write car off even though not her fault. The other party had a fleet management company who had the car repaired (new rear o/s wing, rear bumper, rear o/s door skin, and a new vectra on loan for 9 days. She had notified her ins. co. .but only as a notification not as a claim.I assume your position is similar as you said BMW not his insurers.
