Rikos
Well hello all, I am not too happy today!! I received my insurance renewal through the post last week and it was quoting more than i paid last year, even though i have another years no claims (now have full) and my accident back in 2003 has come off. So i rang them asking if they could do a better price and they gave me a new price but still about £3 more a month than last year. So i've done some ringing around and found it all to be around the same price or more. I then noticed that my insurance company give new customers a 10% discount, so i rang up and asked if i cancelled my policy and re did it could i have the 10% they said yes and starting to go through the motions to give me a new quote as a new customer. They then said as a new customer they couldnt cover me as the ratings on the car had no gone up to 27 (dont know what the hell that means or where that number comes from) and so they cannot offer a driver my age cover on the car! I was a little bit annoyed at this as they can offer me another year if i renew just not as a new driver! I am really :tsktsk: :tsktsk: :tsktsk: :tsktsk: annoyed and just feel as though everything is just getting more and more expensive and have never had to pay more insurance when i have come to renew. I have no choice but to push harder to sell the car but suprise suprise the used car market is :tsktsk: and so i'm not getting a good price for my car and finding it hard to sell! I really hate working my arse off to pay for tax, insurance, tax, petrol, tax, and then getting taxed on my earnings!!! I could go on for hours about how people who abide by the rules are punished and how the greedy politicians line their pockets and who kick off a fuss if they cant have the John Lewis list for their expenses!!! I really am fuming, it's not very often i get annoyed and have a rant but i really have had enough today! I am still searching for a new policy and hopefully i can find somewhere cheaper so i can tell my existing insurer to stick it up their arse. Mike_B
How old are you, where do you live, and what have they quoted? Have you tried confused.com plus people like Direct Line? What about these people like Churchill where they *guarantee* to beat your renewal quote? I got a great price with Elephant (yes I know some people have had problems claiming with them), and the price was also dropped quite a lot by adding my girlfriend onto the policy as a second driver. £389 for fully comp, with Class 1 business use and only a £250 excess was pretty good I thought for a big, powerful car. I guess getting older does have it's benefits... :winky:
Steve
always do the confused.com and gocompare.com route.. always get a good deal that way.
dave1
Same last couple of years with Churchill. Renewal comes so I put my details in on their website and up comes a much lower quote. Instead of cancelling and going as new customer, I just phone them and ask for referrals dept. and tell them what the website has quoted. last year and the year before that, they matched their own online price for my renewal. It saved over £70 last year. Try doing it that way, telling referrals that you want to re-insure with them but they really do need to give you a better quotation to retain your custom. Nothing to lose.
Rikos
I have tried confused, money supermarket, direct line, churchill all coming out the same or more! I am 23, live in rutland (probably the quietest place on earth) i have been quoted £797. I have tried the referrals department, they are the ones i spoke to when i first got my renewal
WylieCoyote
I had my renewal a couple of weeks ago - came as £568 - a whopping £150 more than last year (esure). I went to the confused.com website, and I got EXACTLY the same policy (except with the renewal I had a £100 excess and the new quote I had a £0!!!!!!!!!) with esure for £407. Why why why? I cancelled the one policy with esure and then started another with them. Makes no sense to me
Steve
tried Adrian Flux... get quote then ask for discount being a club member
Parthiban
Who's your insurer? I'm with Admiral, have been for a few years now, and when I renewed earlier this year they sent me a renewal that was the same as the previous year. Obviously I wasn't happy as I now had an extra years no claims, so before calling them I did an online quote (through their system) got the reference number, called them and told them, and they matched it straight away. Seems odd that they're messing you about so much............

aztecbandit1
Weve just insured our fiesta 1.4i again and my partner had her renewal through from churchill at £458 and £300 excess and she's 40 with full NCB, Last year it was £245 F/Comp and £100 excess?? I went on to confused and put her details in and added myself as a named driver to her policy, We had a quote come through for £158 F/Comp with £50 excess ,protected no claims and legal cover and the strange part was it was from Churchill again, so saved £300 and got a better policy from the same company :o But why could'nt they have done that in the 1st place?? My lex has just cost me £372 f/comp with £50 excess and protected N/C discount which i thought wasnt too bad, From www.its4me.co.uk insured with MMA and one thing i like about them is, I can print my own documents off, so need to wait for the cover note, they then send your policy through the post in the next few days. But i know what your saying Rik, Its getting beyond a joke with what we pay for in this country and where the hell does it all go??

Parthiban
Just got a quote from admiral...................£1041!!!!!! Ouch, I always get the 10 month bonus accelerator plans, but that's still somewhat higher than I'd expect, especially as you have full no claims...........do you live somewhere really dodgy? Rory
I got quotes from everywhere to beat my £1100 renewal quote, managed to get quotes of under £1k and my insurer managed to knock their £1100 down to £940, and Adrian flux quoted me £890, so I rang Flux, and they knocked it down to £820, so i'm with Flux now
Rikos
I live in an area with a low crime rate and two private schools, i'm sure that doesnt make it high risk but god knows with insurance companies!
84Stoney
I am 23 and live in a relativly crime free area (except the **** ****** ***** ***** who put my window in!) I pay £110 a month, fully comp, with ALL MODIFICATIONS declared, and only one year NCB. You will often find that the best prices can be found on the phone and not the web. Smaller and specialist companies are often worth a try. That said, I am with Tesco! They wouldn't quote me online thou, neither would ANY of 96 companies confused.com goes to, that confused me! Tesco also have regular offers, be if £80 cash back, £75 Tesco vouchers, FREE sat nav or FREE £100 pressure washer, all run in the last year or so. "Every Little Helps"! (Still waiting for my pressure washer from my Vitara insurance, only £25 per month!)
Boothby Coggles
Insurance companies rely a great deal on customer inertia - a large proportion of people just renew their policy without thinking about it or checking for better deals, so the companies try it on with everyone. One of the many joys of the capitalist economy that we enjoy/suffer :shutit: . Whatever the company or organisation they will all rip you off if they can get away with - especially those corrupt wasters who think they were elected to treat us like sh*t. I went back to my insurer and they have taken another £40 off so will stick with them again this year as i walso cant afford to spend £150-200 on a deposit for a new policy!
