Absolutely Gutted

Recommended Posts

Well i have been unsuccessful in selling my Lex and had to bite the bullet and trade it in.

2 things that are gutting me at the moment.

1 its goign to go to auction and not going to get the notice it deserves.

2. i was offered £2,500 as a trade in. thats a 3rd of what i paid for it 2 years ago.

Is this the death knell of the IS and its high running costs?

Yep, its a fact, the IS prices have dropped big time! Im thinking for what Id get for mine, id rather keep it and buy another car without trading in.

What car you going for?

im going for a plain old boring Passat.

the milage i do for work is pushing me that way.

id love to keep my lex but i just cant afford to.

I found this also i tried to trade my lex in and was offered a cash price of 3k trade in of 2.5 thats nearly 6k off what i payed less than 3 years ago its shocking so now i drive my diesel estate during the week and take my baby out at weekends only way i can afford it although this might still change with the new tax increase:-(

i bought mine about week ago, and dont feel sorry at all.

My dad diseble, so tax sorted

I would say not really bad on fuel, on £30 i did 190 miles, 130 of them motorway miles (but sat in heavy traffic for 3hours), its really nice car, and i dont think i will sell it for while. My car is 9 years old, and i can see people in much expencive and newer cars still giving u that jelous look. I love it.

thats the gutting thing about having to sell it. 7 years old and it still looks new.

And its so much fun to drive.

It's taken my mum 4months to sell a 1.6 Astra SXI it's not just Lex it's all second hand cars and the new tax rules will make it even worse, certainly won't be getting rid of mine unless I win the Lotto then it's IS-F and RS4 Avant here I come, will need to win more than a tenner tho

I bought my lex is 200 a month ago now it's a sport navigator and it's nothing short of fabulous I adore it is quite and comfortable yet drives like a true sports car. It was such great value and it's not good on fuel but it's not bad either. Sorry to hear you have to sell yours but I think it is just a second hand car thing not just yours in particular.

Well, I've just traded my 2005 IS in ('S' model 4 owners) and I've got £5100. Makes me absolutely sick but of all the part ex quotes I got recently, that's pretty much par for the course. Cost me £12300 18 months ago which means a whopping £7200 in depreciation. Horrifying, but to be honest, I'd rather suffer the loss of £500 or so to a) stop worrying about it and B) to stop the hassle of trying to sell privately and getting nowhere fast. I know I could have got more for it privately, but I got such a good deal on my new car I just wanted things to be easy - that's worth a few hundred quid!
