Emperors new clothes time........just what is WIM or the meaning of the verb "to be WIMed"?

Seriously, I seem to be the only bloke on the LOC site that doesn't know!!!

Maybe that means I don't need a good WIMing??? :winky:

WIM is Wheels in Motion, a company that specialises in sorting your geometry, and tyres, and I think lots of other stuff :D

many members have been to WIM to have their Geometry checked and adjusted and if you have uneven wear, you need Wim'ing

its unusual the patterns of tyre wear we experience, its a known fact the IS standard set up has given many owners premature tyre wear, I had 18's on my car originally and they wore evenly the whole time on the car, admittedly only for about 6 months, but when I went back to 17's my inner edges on the front wore quickly and had to be replaced, I have budget tyres on the fronts now and have had for a while and they appear to be wearing evenly, they have been on since Oct, and have done 9000 miles

No seriously, these look like as if you were trying to melt them? Never had that big a problem on mine. Did see some heavier inner tyre wear, but that was because the front was lowered far beyond tolerances (-5 I guess). Now that I have the Eibach springs fitted, I managed (with some difficulty... sigh but that's another story) to get them just within tolerance. But I only used my 17" once a year. Now definitively (with Lexus approval) on 18" (225/40 18).

Dunlop? They're Toyo T1R if I'm not mistaken
i dont pretend to know anything about geo but i do find it strange that it has worn so heavily on the outside, i would expect it to have worn on the inside if it had been knocked out.
Looks like the inside is worn to me.

Are those your front tyres Lexus2D? I have a similar issue with mine.

it has done about 18k on my tyres and has the standard 17s and doesnt sufer this problem!

btw,

you tyre is now illegal.

Maybe the previous owner of your car had the geometry setup by WIM or another geometry specialist?
