Tinting My Is Myself With Pre-Cut Film

After my local tint shop quoting me 250 pounds to tint my IS rear windows, ive decided to try it myself! I have helped tint a friends car before and we successfully did side windows to a good standard but failed miserably on the rear (curved) window, so will therefore leave that to the pro's, which would then only cost me around 100 pounds. Found some pre cut film for the IS on eBay, and he can send me front and rear windows minus back glass, for 27 pounds posted, and the added bonus of being pre cut to exactly fit the IS200. Will l do before and after and let you know how it goes. btw am opting for 20% rear 70% legal on front as ive noticed there slightly tinted anyway so prob wouldnt get away with 50%....

Try and get some other quotes maybe.

I had my campervan done for £160 less than two years ago - that was from the cab back - six windows in all, including two large ones.

If you can get good results yourself of course, and hats off to you if you can, then fair enough.

you have to mould it to the screen shape first on the outside with heat

I have a heat gun and all tools required. I find it very easy to mould to a flat window such as sides. However moulding to the natural curvature of a back window is a skill in itself

I live in a small town with only 2 tint shops, the latter was only slightly cheaper. but after what you said i may try and get some quotes from birmingham (closest city to me) as i tend to be there a fair bit anyway... thanks

It looks easier than it is, I would try and get a few telephone quotes. Toyota dealers are actual reasonably priced so I would give them a shout to see if they can do it

toyota would tint the windows?

Toyota Stourbridge are the only garage in my local area that have a bodyshop. They refurbished my alloy wheels a couple of months ago, worth giving them a call. Usually they have a small MOT centre on-site but Stourbridge seemed to have a large setup.
