I've Got Refurbished Wheels On My Ls400 Too !

Recommended Posts

Had my DHP wheels refurbed by The Wheel Specialist in Bournemouth on Thursday... have to say they've done a cracking job.

Also discovered something I'd not noticed before... a little fold down sun-shade above the rear view mirror !!

OOPS - apologies for the huge photos !

They look great. How much? AND what size are they

Hello... these are the DHP (Dynamic Handling Pack) wheels... 17" rims with 245/50r17 P-Zeros.

Cost of the refurb, including removing tyres, full refurb / powdercoat and new valves & balancing was just over £300.

The rims were very tatty, although not damaged, just lots of peeling lacquer which looked awful. Money well spent IMHO.

Dont they look the business. Does anyone know what the factory finish was as mine seem to be polished. Mk 4 LS400?

My original DHP wheels were painted with a polished ally finish just around the face of rim which appears original as the wheels have yet to be refurbed.

Thanks for the reply Keith I should have put that mine has the MK4 standard wheels and not DHP. Mike

Lovely looking wheels! Good to see you have stuck with the P-Zeros as well.

I had mine diamond cut round the rim last time. A couple of the wheels have started to go a bit dull in that area so it will be time to get them done again soon. Luckily, my detailer tells my that one of the top wheel refurbisher in Scotland is only a few miles from my house so I expect I'll keep them busy over the summer!

I have been in touch with a mobile wheel refurb, but he does not fully remove the tyres, my question is this a propper job 300 euros for 5 wheels

I cant see how you can do a long lasting job properly with tyres still on the wheels. You need the tyres off to be able to get access to 100% of the wheel. I doubt very much these would last through one of our salty winters. Mike

Hello - the refurb I had was a complete strip down, acid dip, bead blast, powdercoat and oven bake. The tyres were then refitted with new (stainless) valves, and balanced. They are like new, and will be very hard-wearing. Cleaning is as simple as a sponge and soapy water.

Check out their website for more details : http://www.thewheelspecialist.co.uk/

Daniel.

Mine are off to the Wheel Specialist in Fareham this week. Only just replaced two new tyres on the front and I have two new ones to fit on the rears so she will be suited and booted. Mike.

Had all mine refurbed a year ago. Makes the car look much smarter. £65 per wheel for the full works. One bonus is that the tyres don't lose air anywhere near as much as before. Money well spent.

The Mk 4 DHP wheels are lovely. I just bought an LS 400 Mk 4 standard model and am doing it up regardless of cost. The wheels are being refurbished at this very moment. £68 + VAT per corner including the spare. Bought myself a new digital camera today so I'll be showing off the results in due course. I'll say it again, the DHP wheels are hard to beat.
