hi guys hope you are all enjoying the sun, am sure this question has been discussed before. my A/C works but it isn't blowing very cold air even on high. i have a 1998 aristo v300.

does this mean it needs refilling, if yes where do i start. i know the bit about turning it on as often as u can even though you are not using it. what does the "H" mean when you lift up the bonnet. right infront on the radiator

can someone point me in the right direction

i would go to a 3rd party aircon specialist... certainly alot cheaper plus if you mention "How much for folds" i bet you can get it alot cheaper

I paid £40 for a top up!

Unlike some other cars, my GS takes around 5 minutes in this weather before it blows really cold. Had the pressures checked and they are OK.

I suggest you give it a while after you set off to make a judgement.

Tempo, I dont know where you are in the country but if you are any where near Essex you can try these mobile air con specs. I have just had the pipe from the condenser to the pump replaced (2 bits) and charged etc for £75 which I know is reasonable on your doorstep. They will inspect and advise for nowt. I had to buy the pipes from Lexus though and you can guess they where dear, best part of a oner.

The service is Mick 07860903377/Rob 07702015454. Rob did mine cant fault it.

I dont know about the light flashing, I think that it only does that when there is a fault, see my post above re air con specs, when he did mine the gas was only half full, what a difference after the repair, you really need to get it checked

On average, how long does the aircon last? I'm sure mine isn't as cold as it should be!

A rule of thumb is the AC system should be evacuated and re-filled every 3 yrs,

When you switch on AC switch setting striaght to Re-circ, should blow cold within 5 to 10 secs at idle,

I have never turned the Ar con off on my car in 43,000miles... its got a built in de humidifier that keeps the screen clear. with the size of my engine there is no detectable loss in power, so why would you turn it off?

I have mine on auto all the time. temp settings (unless kids have played with it) are always between 18 (cold) and 2 (warm enough in winter).

Don't most do the same??

My car is only 2 years old and I rarely use the air con. I'll be peeved if I do need a re-fill.

To get the max benifit from any AC system it should used on a regular basis.

AC is not just for HOT WEATHER, you should also use your AC system in the winter when defrosting windscreen and side windows. Because your using dry air.

Please don't take this the wrong way, you are using the correct settings.
