Can any one help please? I have just bought a 2001 Lexus LS430 and paper work states that rear parking assist system is fitted but no beeps or display can be seen or herd also there is no master switch fitted but on looking in the boot or trunk as they like to call it, all the boxes and wiring seem to be there. Doe's any one have any ideas on this please.

I am not sure if sensors are fitted or not as I can't see behind bumper and I looked behind the panel where the switch should be and all the wiring is there but no switch. I also have looked in the boot for wiring and I can see wires coming from the control unit to the back of the car so am totally confused now.

If it has factory fitted park assist then you will see the sensors on the rear bumper, 4 of them, they should also be colour coded to the bumper. You should have 6 in the front bumper also.

You can switch the park assist off and on from inside the cabin, to the right of the steering wheel next to the switch that you use to adjust the wing mirrors.

The wiring you are seeing may not be for the park assist system, these cars are all wires, they fart by wire.

Thank you all for your help and advice but I have come to the conclusion that it was retro fitted by garage and not done to spec as only part of system seems to be fitted so I will give in for now and live without it. Thank's again for all your help. What a great forum I expect I will be back at some point.

ive never come across a 430 without parking sensors unless (im guessing here) this one is a non-premium pack model and perhaps for that reason they are not fitted

I have seen a couple of 2001 models on fleabay that didn't have parking sensors. Must be very early model 430's.

I had a 2001 ls430 that had parking sensors on the front and rear, there was a switch next to the steering wheel to switch them on and off
