I voted 'if I'm in a hurry' but to be honest I do it sometimes even when I'm not in a hurry.

I hate waiting and trafiic jams, what a waste of my precious time. Life's too short to be waiting for things like that :D

Cut in when you can :winky: .....politely :shutit:

This is one of my biggest bug bears don,t you just hate the bloke who comes right to front expecting to push in ,this is what cause most tail backs in roadworks on the motorway ,if every body got over when they see the sign for lane marrowing there would be no tail back.i love to block the outside lane to stop them commimg through in my van :D .The funny thing is these people would not push in at a supermarket etc because they aint got the security and protection of there little metal box and know people would tell em to get to the back.i say wait your turn cause i would rather hit your car than let you in

That actually happened to me a few years ago in the Accord - I was determined not to let an Escort in, he was determined he was going to get in. In the end he smacked my mirror. He tried to claim he had right of way and initially refused to give me his details. He soon backed down when I pointed out the CCTV camera monitoring the sliproad! :D Fortunately it was only black paint and it rubbed off my mirror OK - but I knew from his details it was a company car (he couldn't have been very successful driving a company escort! :whistling: ) so I rang his HO to "let them know" Funny thing is I noticed him more and more after that incident and he continued to wait until the last minute  W*****

I just can,t help thinking the people who cut in must have that i own the world attitude ,i mean who do they think they are the :tsktsk: queen.

I don`t think i`m the queen.... i have a *****!!!

i just can`t wait in a half mile queue, i always wait for an opening.....and never try and push my way in...... and only on the Motorway approaching the filter lanes...

The problem is if no one done it there would not be a queue just one long line of traffic all progessing through the bottle neck it is when the i rule the world person go,s up the outside and cuts in the traffic forms ,thus creating a stop start effect of people braking to let them in .

I don't do itas it isn't fair. I also think it isvery rude as you are basically saying that your time is more important than everyone else's.

It is only justifiable if you are on some sort of mission - not work - important things .... like getting a woman to the hospital as she is in your car in labour  or you have had the call to get to the hospital as someone you love is in a bad way ...... otherwise - just selfish. (IMO)

Normally I don't but I voted if in a hurry because I did the other day on the M62 near Trafford Park when they were doing roadworks, saved me about 30 minutes!!

Normally I'll just sit and chill :)

Actually, the government in Holland is trying to educate people to all cut in at the end, in a zipper movement. This is the most efficient use of road surface, it is counterproductive to get in one line too soon, this will cause more congestion. The trouble is, people who are cutting in too soon are getting annoyed by the people who are cutting in at the end. Hence they keep driving on agressively at the next car's bumper and won't make space for the others to move in between. But it in fact it is they who are breaking the rule, since you are supposed to let the other side of the zipper in. They'll also be at fault when there is a fender bender because they don't let the other "zip" in.

If you have three lanes of traffic alll moving along at 70mph and you see signs saying lane ahead closed surley if everybody moved into the lanes that are not closed before it closes this would create a continuous line of moving traffic .this is until someone leaves it to the last minute and cuts in causing someone to brake and causing a chain reation all the way along the line of what was moving traffic .i can see your point if the traffic is already at a standstill but not when traffic is moving to my mind it just creates stress and in some cases roadrage ,get to the back and wait your turn .

Not really, you can`t expect 3 lanes of traffic to converge into 1 without any congestion???

I see your point, but it's been thought out.

Over here, there's a sign "merge in 300m" followed by a "merge here" sign, which is as close as safely possible to the actual end of the lane.

I agree, traffic is so congested in my area, that it has usually come to a virtual stand-still at lane-ends :( .

3 lanes could merge into one if they thought about it when they first see the signs a mile away from the actual lane closusre .It is the people who stay in the out side lanes to the last minute that cause the congestion by rushing in at the last minute causing people behind to brake and creating a knock on affect on the people behind them.I just can,t help feeling that a traffic queue is just like any other queue ,you join it from the back and queue until you reach the front unless of course you feel you are special and have a right to push in
