  2. Yes. The facelift GS front end is similar to the IS and different design rear light clusters which are interchangeable if you wanted to update. I prefer the pre face lift rear though. Very little changes to the interior just a few switch moves to the steering wheel. The GS is great, very refined even more so then my previous IS. Extras like ambient lighting in the door panels and excellent standard equipment on Luxury spec. I viewed a few Jag XE`s and the salesman looked blank when I said I wanted HID lights ,auto folding mirrors, blind spot warning, rear view camera, proximity sensors front & rear, heated & cooled seats, leather electric memory seats both sides, keyless entry & start. DVD player. No used XE`s with a spec even close. Just about possible if you spec up a new one adding mega money to the price. All standard on the GS Luxury which isn't even the top spec. Ed

  3. The IS is F-Sport White yes. Its a decent colour actually, shows up other white cars as being Ivory and it has glass flakes in it so sparkles with a blueish hue in the sun. However, in the clouds it just looks like flat white which is a bit annoying. The RX is Arctic Pearl, I love it, seems to change in any light and never looks flat which is great! The new Sonic White is very similiar to Arctic pearl but has even more flake and its slightly brighter white than the Arctic pearl which is an Ivory tone.

  4. What I have always done is use a visible sturdy crook lock on the steering wheel. I think it is a visible deterrent to the would be thief.. making them think they would be better going onto the next car. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk

  5. Argento ice silver Se same as yourself grey leather heated cooled seats. 2 sets of standard wheels one with winter tyres. Running team dynamics in anthrisite light weight wheels love them. Just over 55,00 miles full history .automatic hid fogs and headlights led interior lights. In a word i love it, and get loads of comments on its condition. Inside outside and under the bonnet shes spotless everywhere.

  6. Wow, under 40k in 9 years? It must be in pretty good condition then. And how are you liking all that extra involvement? Perhaps I am just being an old man, but I actually wish mine was available as an auto, since I would have got one of those instead. I am a lazy driver these days.

  7. Might be a build up of rust on the outer edge of the disc rubbing against the disc plate. You will be surprised how this is mistaken for brake issues and even bearings - cost nothing to fix and worth discounting. If its a sticky caliper you will feel the heat transferred onto the alloy wheel after a short run. You would expect the disc to be warm but not the alloy - worth a go.

  8. Plus with a pump change, they'll do the coolant which is then good for another 5+ years! Totally agree about the sat nav comments too. Never use mine on the '53 plate RX300 I have! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  9. You haven't said what year the car is but with 100k on the clock I'd guess at about 2005? I seem to remember reading on these forums somewhere that the latest Nav disk available for the Series 2 RX300 is about 2011, which is hopelessly out of date anyway. Plus, being DVD-based you can't add in your own POIs which makes it about as useful as a chocolate teapot. Get a TomTom or some other dash/screen-mounted proper satnav, they're far better. I think Lexus charge £295 to change the timing belt but that doesn't include the tensioner/idler pulley or anything like that. Nor does it include the water pump, which you should do at the same time because 90% of the work to get to the belt would have to be done again to get to the pump if you did it at a different time. I got the whole job done for £350 at a local indy garage including all gaskets, pulleys etc., etc.

  10. As to navigation I think you would be better to spend the money on either a dedicated SatNav or use one of the free programs on your smartphone. The built system is pretty clunky by all accounts. I had a similar noise on my ancient Toyota Surf on full lock which was due to the coil springs binding in the cups at one end. A bit of grease sorted it out. I wouldn't discount the "small local dealer". I bought my RX350 from a small garage and they were brilliant at sorting out warranty problems. My experience of main dealers (with other brands) is that the service standards and quality of the work is no better than independents and often worse but their prices are much higher. Given the age and mileage of your 300 I doubt you will gain anything by using Lexus for service. Why not use your local guy?

  11. I suspect you will need to live with the mirror or look to a breakers for a replacement as I wouldn't think a non-dimming version is available. Navigation disks are expensive from lexus but can sometimes be found on ebay for £80 or so. I think the newer disks just have more up to date road information and that the look'n'feel of the nav system is unchanged (including the inability to use full UK postcodes), but if you've owned two IS's before you'll know all about that. My IS is a bit creaky at times (in the mornings especially) which I suspect is worn suspension bushes. Will probably need sorting at some point.

  12. They age really well in my option...I currently have a private plate on my 55 reg is250 and no one believes me that it's 11 years old...a lot of kit in the car and all in working order... smooth auto gear boxes, excellent sound system, comfy seats with hot and cold etc!

  13. I have nowt but praise for Goodyear Efficientgrip and Goodyear Asymetric 2's. I did not find much to like about Bridgestone Potenzas or Turanzas. Just my own personal findings.

  14. I'm back in Lexus ownership after 4 years away , sold my Is300 and had a few other Toyoyta's since then, decided as I can't afford a generation 1 TA22 Celica or 2.8 supra I would go for a later coupe .......here she is ...

  17. Even 1 or 2 companies offer an intake for a Honda CRZ !!! lol Not that I'm comparing the CRZ to a Lexus ! lol, currently looking to change the rear diffuser part, (why couldn't Lexus make the exhaust look like the IS250 / 200t) saw the TRD one but that means I to change it for 4 exhausts - preferably not wanting to for financial reasons amongst making the car look lot quicker than it is and of course boy racerish ! then I saw the Aimgain rear diffuser thats more like it but cannot find anywhere in UK selling this !! the exhaust trim is kind of like LS460 style :)
