  1. 340 miles driven today. Staying in Normandy for a few nights now. Still quarter of a tank left. Bit of a leak in the boot just under rear screen.

  2. That reminds me of a customer we had who rang to complain that her new computer was not working. ( it's the era of floppy discs! ) She said that the instructions said to insert discs one to six and that she had managed to get three disks in the drive but could not get any more in as it was full. Aaaargh! New floppy disk drive on it's way and by the way it means insert the next disc after you have removed the previous disc - there will be a prompt on the screen too.. Oh really?😱

  3. I think you are mistaken...it is almost certainly a man made material, albeit with a leather look-alike grain.I would suspect the nearest it has been to a cow is the last time it went past a MacDonalds.

  4. Ah interesting - I believe it is the separate bracket type, in any case I’ve put a message out to my mechanic asking him to take more of an in depth look so hopefully he comes back soon and can get this sorted & car back on the road! I’ll update back with what I find - Thanks for all your help 😊

  5. Add mudflaps to that list if you dont have them already. Its such a life saver in the UK. I havent washed my car since December 😋 and it looks nice and shiny still. From a distance at least. Before the mudflaps the doors would have a much thicker buld up that needed to be washed off more frequently. And it only cost me some £15/20 from Aliexpress fitted them myself.

  7. Or... the person whose gender shall not be revealed who attended a training course on Microsoft office and was seen to be moving the mouse across the computer monitor because "they" thought the mousemat was a placemat for "their" teacup. All true unfortunately.🥱

  8. The RAV4 and NX share the same platform and drivetrain - the RX is different, although the current RX350h and RX450h+ share the same drivetrain as the NX/RAV4.

  9. Hi Malc1, Thanks for getting back to me. No it wasn't, went through with no advisories. You make a valid point and I didn't think about that before (touting for work). With that in mind, I think I will hold off for now. Thanks for the advice and have a great day. Nick

  10. You are better to search for the term clock spring. You can get third party ones from around £50 on eBay. If you want a genuine part then I'd recommend importing from Amayama for around £250.

  11. This won't capture anything not registered yet, but was are in to April it should start to pick up 2024 cars soon. https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/?q=LEXUS+LC+500&commit=Search Gives 523 in total with around 50 registered in 2023. (A lot of those being special editions)

  12. Hi Joseph and welcome to the LOC. I’ve seen bodges in my time but that takes first prize! Was this a private sale or dealer ? If the latter I would be straight back there asking questions! It’s not very clear from the pictures but you say the top bolt was in but the bottom replaced with zip ties? Is the lower calliper slide sheared in the carrier bracket or just missing? Apologies that I have more questions than answers but need more information to help you.

  13. Other than convertibles, there's also a V8 coupe at Lexus Cheltenham, but it's Sport Grade, not Sport +, and no hybrids anywhere yet that I can see. I wouldn't be surprised if the number of post-'23 coupes gets much out of single figures.

  14. Yes. Previous owner bought the netting.

  17. You shouldn't use heated seats or steering wheel or any in fact even the radio when it isn't in Ready mode. Once it is in Ready Mode then it makes no difference what you switch on as the power is coming from the hybrid system, not the 12v battery. It charges at around 5 to 8 amps. It makes no difference if the vehicle is just sat in Ready mode or being driven. This isn't an issue. The vehicle is able to generate 100+ amps @ 12v from the hybrid system. With less that 10 amps going to charging the 12v battery, you have more than enough to use all the features of the vehicle. If you are using your vehicle daily then it doesn't really matter on the journey length, you just need around 1 to 2 hours of the vehicle being in Ready mode per week. As you potentially use it less than that then you may experience the same issues and your Yaris. Make sure your key isn't left near the vehicle (e.g. by the front door with the vehicle on the driveway) as if the two can communicate with each other it can cause the battery to discharge faster. You could also consider disabling smart entry completely from the vehicle's menu which would help and also prevent the possibility of a relay attack theft.

  18. Thanks for the advice and info Stephen and Paul. Appreciated. Stephen you are so lucky with your Prius, only wish it was a the same my side. I have had the car checked out with Toyota and they say nothing is wrong with the battery, just needs to be driven on longer drives to charge it properly. I am even scared to use heated seats, steering wheel and interior lights at any stage, not even when the car is in "ready mode" Still think the LBX is an awesome car, but I am sadly not able to put my car on a trickle charger or solar charger.

  20. Anyone considering Ben's LC should watch The Car Care Nut's review on YouTube. This chap is all knowing on Lexus and Toyota cars and the review he does on a red LC500 coupe is worth a listen due to his prodigious knowledge of this car. The last local car show I went to in East Yorks saw the arrival of a red LC500 coupe with black interior and it was like everyone wanted to get close up to it, ignoring the Aston's, Bentley's, hot hatches, classics etc. All they wanted to know from the owner was his ownership experience. He was 75 years old too but felt like a 30 year old when he floored it.

  21. What a beautiful machine. Just need ERNIE and/or Camelot to come up trumps. Meanwhile, I will continue to sedately cruise in my ES Takumi. Yeah, pity about me! P🍀

  22. What a surprise; call from dealer yesterday cancelling appointment to fit protection plate. Reason- they don’t exist unless you have an RX or NX. Add in the fact that the Lexus + app has not worked properly since about October 23 and my conclusion is that Lexus just do not care.

  23. ***** !!! I am having some trouble getting control of this post editor 🤬 However, as I was saying... a quick google indicates that an LS400 is likely to be factory fitted with this style of radiator. Alloy, core, plastic tanks and a transmission cooler inside the bottom tank. I don't know anything about the LS400, but if the pic is correct, then the radiator filler must be located remote from the radiator, and there will be an overflow hose connected to a spigot on the far end of the top tank. This general arrangement is a bit similar to that used on my 2008 ISF, and on the ISF there is a well known weak point... the overflow hose spigot. The plastic in the spigot where it is covered by the hose breaks down, and it is rare to find any 2008 ISF factory radiator where the overflow hose can be removed without the spigot crumbling and rendering the radiator useless. Not suggesting that the same issue would apply to the LS400, but it might be worth asking around in LS400 circles to see if it is a known problem. Cheers...

  24. I removed all the engine bay covers when I got mine and left them off. They don't do anything other than be in the way when you want to do anything...

  25. Actually i did splice it in the reverse camera wiring but for some reason i messed up there and then i tried the new camera to the factory connector and voila a clear picture. My car was a is300h 2013 year. I have attached pictures from another forum

  26. Have you checked that you don’t still have the protective film on the screen? I had a year of struggling to enter upper case letters before the dealer looked at the screen bubbling up and said it was the film that should have been removed at delivery. Upper case works every time since!

  27. I have a similar issue but slightly more annoying. PBD was working fine before I went away for two weeks. When l returned the car (2010 Rx450h) wouldn't start. I had to manually open the rear door to get to charge the battery and got the car going... The PBD wouldn't open after that. I made sure the glove box switch was set properly and checked everything I could find. I cleared down all error codes and bought and fitted a new battery yesterday as it should hold enough charge for more than two weeks. After this the PBD opened and CLOSED no problem (According to Colin Barber's Post, removing the battery and cuneiform a new one would have initialized the ECU) .... This morning however, nothing no beeps and the car does not recognise that the rear door is open when opened manually. I've always thought the powered back door to be a gimmicky lazy thing and this really does seem like a flaky and irritating system as the only way to get the door open is to clamber over the back seats to operate the manual unlock. I will try disconnecting and re connecting the Negative terminal when it stops raining but is there something I'm missing? I guess it could be that the ECU started playing up as the battery got flat not that seems very coincidental Thanks for reaching and for any ideas anyone may have

  29. Lexus cars, as a percentage of those on the road in the UK, were the most stolen cars in 2023. They have taken that “accolade” from Land Rover… and their insurance and theft problems are well known! lots of Lexus models are at risk of a vulnerability that allows thieves to plug in a device, open your car doors, and drive off in less than 60 seconds. A bbc watchdog report finally promoted a response from Lexus earlier this month: https://mag.lexus.co.uk/lexus-uk-statement-on-vehicle-theft/?fbclid=IwAR2u1DC_0mAo4_kSpK_1FLViLNyHJq0nAKctwfXCMxQi1CwuNiGBA10yY0w_aem_ATXzc0mSafM1xX72JZyfSo-7KpoTKXtkPQjmf6ToRhjQ_4GsDaGMH6Nf5ACoFWEW2pE given Lexus themselves have only recently shared that list, it’s unsurprising insurers have taken a blanket “no Lexus” approach to underwriting.
