  1. At least he doesn't get prosecuted like that poor bloke Bill Stickers....................... Blame it on Mal Practice.
  2. Do the trick as seen on Topgear. Hold the remote to your head and press the button, it does work from quite a distance.
  3. Ask one of the local Hoodies to take it off, they are experts at removing Lexus valve caps.
  4. I trust that everyone who voted has actually tried the food prior to voting.
  5. Is the gorilla deaf? Just wondered as he has a earphone in his left ear with wires coming from it. Oh! no it's probably connected to his mobile phone. Still a classic advert though.
  6. I would have thought that actually sampling your food and drink before voting is the least that should be done. Otherwise the votes are void and worthless.
  7. No it is not. Ships are given names in order to identify them to others. Cars are given number plates to identify them.
  8. Sorry but I think it is a silly thing to do, after all it is just an inanimate object. I often wonder if those who name their car also name other objects, like their kitchen table or lawn mower etc. I always thought it was a girlie thing to do as they were the only ones known to me to do such a thing. So having probably upset half the membership of LOC, I would point out that it is my personal opinion to which I am entitled. Another pet hate of mine is people who refer to their car as 'SHE'. It is a thing for goodness sake, a sexless object which is neither male or female so what is wrong with refering to it as 'IT' the car won't mind at all.
  9. Quote:- the two biggest oil companies (which now are one), ESSO and BP. Since when? It would help if you got the basic facts right before creating your well meaning (if missguided)petition.
  10. You do realise that copying such discs is stealing, so I do not think any LOC members would entertain such actions. So stop being so bloody stupid.
  11. Signed, and I hope he gets a sentence which will frighten anyone from getting behind the wheel if drunk.
  12. I would be more than happy to pay £1 per litre, instead of the £1.10 we have to pay here.
  13. In the recent incident near Newport on the M4, the police stopped chasing the morons car as soon as it drove into the wrong side of the motorway. Yet they continued driving like maniacs against the flow of traffic and caused the death of two innocent people when they crashed into their car. So the police did everything in a sensible and thoughtfull manner so full marks to them. The tossers in the stolen car got all they deserved.
  14. We can hear you PHILL.P so PLEASE STOP SHOUTING, it's rude.
  15. I agree with most points mentioned, except no. 2 if you meant unlocking from inside the car or via the remote. The open bootlid is often higher than your garage ceiling or doorway, so unlocking accidently or thoughtlessly could result in damage to the lid. Also if parked with a high tail wind the result of unlocking the boot could result in the lid smashing into the rear roof and window.
  16. Thanks everybody for the good wishes, much appreciated. As for the LS, it would be too big for the local roads and even more expensive. Apart from wanting to own a Mercedes, there is a point to my choice. Lexus had a very good reputation for quality and excellent dealers. But some dealers fall far short of what some owners expect when it comes to good service. Yes the majority of dealers are first class, but you pay the same price regardless of how good or bad the dealership is. Lexus UK seem happy as long as the dealers are selling cars, and do not seem so interested in the quality of after-service provided. Maybe the Toyota company were more interested in beating General Motors to be the worlds biggest producer of cars and let their standards slip. Just look at the faults reported in the forums for the IS, far more than all the other Lexus models put together. So in my opinion Lexus were good but getting worse while Mercedes were bad but getting better. Mercedes have recognised they were going off the rails quality wise, and have done something about it. So the new C class should be a much better more reliable car than previous models built during their decline. This is my personal opinion by the way, and when I say good or bad I mean in relative terms. I will still have the IS250 SEL untill early November, so after that time will tell if I was right. So if you see my Mercedes by the side of the road with the bonnet up feel free to blow the horn and laugh as you cruise past in your Lexus. :winky:
  17. Not that I will be missed, but I thought I would let you all know I am selling my Lexus IS250 SEL and so not renewing my Gold membership. I have ordered a new Mercedes (boo hiss etc) C320CDi Elegance. I always fancied owning a Mercedes, long before Lexus existed and as I reach a watershed time in my life in a couple of months (I become and OAP) this is my last chance to own one. I went for the 320CDi because it has a V6 3litre engine with automatic a 7 speed gearbox and will be more fun, faster and more economical, I hope than the Lexus. My IS 250 SEL never had any problems with rattles etc. It has been perfectly reliable, but I find it lacks something. By that I mean I find I do not get the urge to just go for a drive for the pleasure of it. I just use it as a means of transport when it should be more than that. Judging by the number of members who are adding turbos and other modifications perhaps other feel the same way. As someone mentioned before, the car lacks soul. The things I know I will miss are the keyless go, the adaptive cruise and most of all the reversing camera. I just hope I have not made a big mistake in my choice, but this is my last chance to fulfill a long held dream. I'll keep checking the public forum to make sure your all behaving yourselves, so go easy on the abuse. oldcro.
  18. I'm not sure about the giraffes and cheetahs, but can help you with the tigers and cheetahs though. The answer is to do with botany. Let me explain. Tigers live in Asia where the most popular plants are bamboos. Now imagine the tiger sneaking through a stand of bamboo looking for a four legged meat shop for his supper. In order to hide from his potential prey, all he has to do is line up his stripes with the bamboo stalks and ABRACADABRA he has disappeared. Smart eh! By the way, female tigers also do this but their tendancy to talk a lot tends to spoil the effect. Now the cheetah lives on the plains of Africa which are covered in grass. Grass happens to be the favourite food of antelope type animals, and you know what you do after eating lots of grass (apart from the belching and farting that is) you have many and frequent bowel movements. So apart from the grass the plains of Africa are covered in antelope droppings. So the crafty cheetah developed spots so he could just lie down in the grass and then look like any other patch of dung littered plain. Pilots and astronauts have always commented on how much the spots on a cheetahs back look like antelope droppings. Another interesting fact about cheetahs is about the speed they can run. It was commonly believed they run so fast to catch their prey (for prey read antelope), but this is now known to be untrue. Intensive and frequent observations prove they are not in fact running to anything, but running away from something. Remarkable as it may seem, they are running away from the common dung beetle who being short sighted keep thinking the spots are their next meal and attack cheetahs with relish. Learn something new ever day is my motto :shutit:
  19. Damn, when I saw the New England bit I thought you meant that place in the USA.
  20. Well Rikos, once upon a time there were two types of cow. White cows that lived in the snowy north, and black cows that lived in the sunny south. One day in the dim and distant past a white bull wondered south in search of some fresh grass. At the same time a pretty black cow was heading north to avoid the heat (no aircon in them days). By chance they met and, well it was love at first sight so in a very short time they were married. The following year the couple were blessed with a calf which was neither black or white, but black and white, and that was the start of the now famous black and white breed of cows. Normally found in the middle where it is neither to hot or too cold. Hope this answers your question so you can get back to doing some work. :winky:
  21. Old one, but still guaranteed to make you laugh
  22. They told me that becuase the two batterieds are connected and there is a flow of high voltage power between them even when the car is switched off, I should not even think of inserting the battery switch (mentioned by someone else on this page) as the main battery could explode. I am thinking of investigating the solar trickle charger via the cigarette lighter socket. mmm so if there is a flow when the ignition switch is off that means that something is drawing a load all the time - no load = no power flow. it is true that the hybrid batteries are high voltage approx 280V but there is still a normal 12V battery. As mentioned before and it has been something that i had my doubts about is the trickle charger via the cigar lighter - the plug is only active when the ignition is in the ACC position so a trickle charger is useless unless its connected directly to the battery. a quick look on the lexus.com site says if the vehicle is parked for longer than 30 days then battery charging may be required. so its obvois something in the system is drawing a constant current. The clock etc. :shutit:
