  1. So NMac maybe Piggy might have a view on whether any of this has been a help or not. I would have been happy that you had tried to help. I would have smiled at the on topic asides. Anyway, there is no sign of Piggy so far!
  2. This is driving me potty. iTunes just pick some weird covers - like the other day - I got a "Las Ketchup" cover instead of the "La's". Does anyone know where all the art is and can the correct covers be substituted? Can the wrong ones be deleted?
  3. Its a pull tab surely? Get someone to push down on it while you pull the tab. It may just need adjusting or a new seal to put a bit of spring in it. Or there is an electricity problem. Is it an electo-magnetic release?
  4. Perfection attained in 97. Now lets f it up! No offence taken PB Lots of lovely Toyota designs in the 80's and 90' too. Cressidas and Camrys (in Middle east, different names and some not available over here anyway.)
  5. Hello Parthiban. I am not sure that I did dispute this before but maybe I did. I do see what you mean to some extent but when you have hand washed the things weekly over several years there is a world of difference. Merc is edgy and the angular lines do not run like the Lexus which is more rounded and slopes back more. The rear roof is more gently curved down too. The interior plastic of the Merc is very poor and insubstantial in comparison. It also decomposes very quickly in the heat of Saudi Arabia. Style is how it all fits together. Wheels are not so similar close up.
  6. Worst of both worlds, Sort of thing a Saudi prince would get knocked up. I had a BMW 635 CSI that had been princed in Jedda, all white plastic leather look throughout stuck down with pattex and stunk to hell in the sun. TV monster stereo etc. only the ems was duff. I used to get a headache for an hour after every use. It got taken over by another guy but we soon got well rid of it.
  7. I don't understand this Merc comparison. The Lexus was the look that others copied. The S class were nothing like it. I had the 78 and 85 and the s600 was just a god awful brick. Get some photos of them all and see for yourselves. All the LS400s are just clean pure and beautiful. Not sharp or flashy, no sculpted edges or weird dams etc. That is why it will be a classic and the 430 and upwards will not. I'm not saying the later models are any worse or technically poorer, they just do not have the timeless classic style.
  8. Love Falkens hated Pirellis that I replaced, less cash too!
  9. Try adding brake fluid to the res. I think this did for me once unless that was the brake light bulb indicator. No harm done trying anyway!
  10. I waved back at another LS owner the other day in Chesterton a burgundy metal flake I think. I was a bit surprised as no one ever waved before. Maybe I waved at him before and he has twigged it as a good idea! Was it you?
  11. I did a marathon thread on insurance recently and came in with NFU lowest price with low excess but all the extras were quality and included. You deal with local brokers and its a mutual society so the profit is shared by reducing the premiums, similar to CO-OP but cheaper ins. all round. They will certify your no claims to pass on if you insure elsewhere later (offered not asked for). Endsliegh come up cheapest but no extras and huge excess. If your area has had an claim or if your car model has had a claim in your area you get stiffed for it as simple as...
  12. Not being argumentative but my Falkens were great last winter when everyone else was sliding around I was sure footed. I replaced the Pirellis that were rubbish and wore out too fast anyway. Falkens cheaper and sticky.
  13. It could be road camber. Try on a flat road hands off the wheel. Also on clear road try stopping without hands on wheel see if it pulls over. These tests will suggest whether there is a problem. I understand that tracking for £40 is not an option as it is called geometry which relates to all wheels hence a minimum of £100 for a set up. Use a penetrating spray such as "nut cracker" about a week before you take it in and their set up will go more easily.
  14. I haven't been able to get on here for about 4 weeks now due to some mix up with the site and Safari. I managed to get in touch eventually through Facebook and now its sorted. I am happy but there is about 100 threads to catch up with!!!
  15. And the MOT guy can find that? Strewth....Take the whole thing off. No one elses lights go up and down all the time :shutit:
  16. Good luck with that. Whats the deal with the headlight sensor? What are they?
  17. All VW van owners wave, except the snotty ones and I wave at them in the Lexus but they are not expecting it. Lexus owners never wave in return so I gave up. Its good to go out in the van sometimes.
  18. Well a few months until I see what the MOT throws up! I've been too lucky with MOTs so far. Good for you Lee. NFU came in at £404 fully singing and dancing on monthly payments. RAC Home rescue and foreign travel green card etc. £150 excess.£50 windscreen. Its been emotional! Weeks of studying form!
  19. That's a great price Dave. The seal quality might even be tougher and the profile better too!
  20. The Panda is supposed to be half way decent for a small runabout don't know much about the Seat. Thanks John and Steve. I went for the NFU quote in the end. Still quite expensive but the level of cover is much higher than most and the excess is sensible at £150. Very decent people as far as I can see. I have a pair of old Derry boots in the back so perhaps I can count as a farmer?
