  1. I saw a few months ago on the Audi website, an A3 with the 3.2 V6 and DSG auto, about a year old with 10,000 miles for about £16,000. It had all the trimmings like leather, sat nav, xenon's etc. Nearly snapped it up myself but would have been too much to run as my driving school car compared to the Micra. How about a 1 series?
  2. Thanks for that link. I actually bought the CD-ROM from ebay about a year ago. It is a handy thing to have, so long as you know what your doing, which I don't. Jim.
  3. I think the only thing that Haynes did for Lexus was for the Toyota Camry (Lexus ES300) which has got nowt to do with the LS range. I've been looking for a while. The CD-ROM, if it's anything like that for the LS430, is quite detailed.
  4. It's people like this who make me really hate England and make me want to move to Canada. Instead of the government giving them hand-out's to fund their million callorie per day diet, they should be given a cross trainer each and be orderd to do half an hour on it each day. Then, when they are, and I use this term very loosley, !!!FIT!!! enough to work, they should be made to pay back every penny they have scrounged to shove more bacon fat down their gullet. When this country sucks, it really sucks. Jim.
  5. The one thing I have found since using Castrol Edge is that there is no difference between oil changes. That either means that this oil is pants, or it is really good and doesn't go funny over a six month period.
  6. Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you. Your so lucky I can't sing this in person. Jim.
  7. Having a bit of a rant made me look at the advert, but, I'm not in the market for an LS400. The interior pic looked nice though. Autotrader or Ebay would be the best places in my opinion. I'd like to say though that I've never had any problems on here and all advice has been great, even when I ask the daft'ist of questions. Have a good weekend everyone. Jim.
  8. This seems to be trying to sort out a problem by dealing with the effect rather than the cause. Driver education is the only way you will reduce casualties on the roads. By introducing compulsary driving courses for everybody regardless of how long they have been driving, then this will help to reduce fatalaties. What the government is trying to do is to stop the general public from killing themselves by removing the need to think behind the wheel. Lowering the speed limit reduces the chances of people loosing controll of vehicles on more dangerous roads. How about, removing incompitant people from our roads and education for everybody. People forget that driving is a privilage and not a right. Driving is somthing that must be done to the best of everyones ability and as soon as this government wakes upto the fact that they can't wrap everyone in cotton woll to save them from each other, the better. Lower speed limits are not the way forward, education is the way to get these dangerous people to drive more compitantly.
  9. It might, down hill, with a hard rearward blast of wind, and an incredable imagination. Oh, and a tin of Branston's Baked Beans.
  10. That has cheered up my really pants day no end. Thanks very much for posting this. Jim.
  11. Variable vane turbo whistlers? Arn't you just complicating things? If I need more power, I just fire my phasers into my dilithium crystals which gives me at least warp factor three. Now find that one on Ebay. And before anyone asks, I'm not a trekie, MY DAD IS.
  12. This really does make sense. On the 430 if you drive it in a spirited manner using plenty of revs, MPG down to single figures is very easy. Using the ROSPA style of driving is very easy to kill your MPG. Keep the revs low and it works. So, it's not only for diesels. On the motorway I have got 32MPG out of mine before and for a 4.3 tugging along the best part of two tonnes, that's preety good.
  13. Can I just say that although I do own a Nissan Micra, this was not me complaining. I was more than happy with my one!!!! :P
  14. I found some lovely lipstick under one of my seats. Shame it wasn't my colour. I had nothing to wear that went with frosted pink.
  15. That sounds right to me. I don't proclaim to be an expert on this subject at all but the 220d's I've driven, I kept the revs low and got late 40's on the mpg. My LS spends most of it's time under 2,000 rpm and gets about 20mpg. Would it be worth it from time to time to give it the berries to blow up any carbon build up in the cat?
  16. Make - Lexus Model - LS430 Year - 2004 Mods - None Use (road/track etc) - Dual Carriageway, ocassional Motorway (Currently running Castrol Edge 0W-30 Fully Synthetic) Also, Make - Nissan Model - Micra 1.2 Automatic Year - 2007 Mods - None Use (road/track etc) - Driving school car (so a complete hammering and also running Castrol Edge 0W-30 Fully Synthetic) Jim.
  17. I remember in my much younger days helping my Mum with this. I was looking at somthing across the street at the time and remember saying "keep going, keep going, (CRUNCH!!!!!), Stop". It's not often you hear your Mum say somthing rude.
  18. My sensor was covered under warrenty. Come to think of it, I had a sensor go on the back just after I took delivery of the car and that was replaced under warrenty. I havn't payed for one but I don't think it could be much over £120. They just have to unplug it and plug in a new one so labour can't be too horiffic either. Jim.
  19. I've had my LS430 for about a year and a half and have never switched off the air con. I even leave it switched on in the back as well. I've always been told to use it or loose it. It also keeps my small bottles of water cool in the fridge so were ready for drinkies at the end of a journey. Jim.
  20. Who ever gets my one next is going to have an easy ride. It's had a money-no-object life since I've had it. Always ran on BP Ultimate petrol, Castrol Edge fully synthetic oil change every six months regardless of mileage, Michelin Piolot Sport tyres all round, SL2Vi iPod video adapter and 18 months of warranty left. On ocassion it returns 23mpg average but I love it to bits and wouldn't have it any other way.
  21. I had a parking sensor go on the front of mone not so long ago. Apparently, they don't have to look damaged to be damaged. If someone has knocked it in a car park without you knowing, then this can cause it to go off. Replacement is the only way as I believe the sensors can't be repaired. Lexus should be able to sort one out that is the same colour as your car. Jim.
  22. Very nice car. Love the colour as well. Welcome to first class. You have now done the motoring equivalant of turning left when entering an aircraft. It now makes me want to go and clean mine now. Everyone's always looks cleaner than mine. Enjoy it. Jim.
  23. I just thought I would add this. My Micra has had an oil change yesterday using Castrol Edge 0W-30 fully synthetic (overkill for a Micra, I know) and the average MPG has gone from 40.3 to 42.1 on the computer. It does make a difference, even on a weeney 1.2 litre engine.
  24. I've just checked my driving school website, and lets just say, I'm not putting a down payment on a Veyron any time soon. £0,000,000,000.00 The best part of a shiney s***e. Jim.
  25. I heard first hand from a mechanic today about engine flushes. If you use engine flush from new then it's not a problem but if you have a higher mileage engine which has never been flushed, it can cause the grot inside the engine to move and block up parts where oil could normally flow. This is what I have heard so don't shoot the messanger. Do they use oil fluch at Lexus main dealers? Jim.
