  1. i managed to find some breif Text which might be usual to someone:- There is no equivalent fluid... although Mobil, Amsoil and other oil companies will disagree, they want you to buy their product after all.. ONLY use the genuine Toyota T-IV from the dealer.. (lexus or toyota) it comes in a 5 litre container.. but just happens to be very expensive. £38.63 plus VAT = £45.39 for 5 Litres.. and just for a heads up.. The Super longlife pink coolant is £27.12 plus VAT = £31.87 for 4 Litres. (that was only £14.86 plus VAT for 5 Litres) Because the tranny is computer controlled, it is expecting T-IV fluid inside, anything different can cause the computer to think it is slipping or grabbing, leading to jerky changes and vibrations.. You will notice that you are only replacing 2.4 litres, even though the transmission contains about 8 litres or so.. and normally this is fine if done regularly, and you have no problems with the tranny... and the fluid is in good condition.. If the fluid is burnt, and discoloured... it is better to completely change it.. usually this means stripping the tranny, however from reading the posts on here, it can be done by disconnecting a cooler pipe, and pumping about a litre out, refilling, pump another litre out etc until the fluid coming out is nice and red.. While you have the sump off, you are supposed to change the filter.. this is a fine mesh strainer, and in my mind should be able to be cleaned and re-used... that will save about £60.. there are 3 small gaskets that should be replaced though.. I was quoted £15 each, so I'm reluctantly skipping these.. I never replaced the gaskets but has the mesh filter flushed out. :winky: Please note i can not accept any issues that might arise from the text above if you or the mechanic mess things up.. it is for a rough guide and only. sorry but the relevant disclaimer has to be noted
  2. Hi mate. I have done the transmission fluid change on my Auto and i can tell you it's not cheap. :tsktsk: however it's worth being a bit sly and doing your homework and it could save you a few bob. Firstly check what colour your oil is, if black and smells burnt it's due for a change. and be prepared to be done over by the stealers called Lexus.. :shutit: :tsktsk: So what i did was buy the right Oil from the main dealers (best to do this has it will last you the next 3 to 4 yrs) so worth investing in the correct oil and it cost .......... £45 :tsktsk: :tsktsk: . i had an independent garage who had a bit off commonsense do the job and I provided has much info has possible so they can not balls it up.. Plus ask them to Flush the wire mesh filters in terps to clear any gung and grit or fillings.. a must.. once nice and clean them they should be able to replace the fluid in and mine took the lot not has it states in the description.. start it and let it warm up change all the gears with out moving several times etc.. then slowly set off and move up and down till you think the oil is i all the nooks and cranks etc.. and then check the oil level again and if needed top up.. I will have a rummage to find the information and email it across mate.. best speak to some independent Toyota specialist to have the job done right.. Good luck mine cost me £45 for the oil and 45 for the change plus the mesh filter clean too (there is no replacement mesh you can buy from the dealers, hence the clean-up) Dibs
  3. Hi guys, Need some urgent advise please? :winky: My baby is poorly and making noises (creeking ect.) when i turn or go over any bumps.. Starting to wary that it might be the Wishbones or bushes. The wheels seem fine no play or juddering etc.. The Shockers bounce correctly when pushed no noises when full lock only small creeking from the front end (soulds lik a old door opening fromt hem horor movies and it could do with a shot of oil). Panicing not sue if i should drive it anymore incase it fall's off or something.. Any advise is greatlyfully Appriciated ;) Dibs
  4. Sounds to me like a dirty MAF sensor. I had this issue about a year ago. CRC make a MAF sensor cleaner. @ screws to remove it, and a good spray with the cleaner should see you right if that is the problem do you have a link to the site perhaps i will give it a shot too, if it works? Cheers Dibslpg
  5. I think Lambo doors always look better on a 2 door coupe :P B) but its personal choice i guess..
  6. You planning on living in a shed then Better off looking at Oz or NZ mate, this place is going down faster than a tart's drawers. I second that from MacRS200, I would recommend OZ, Canada or NZ since the better quality of life and crime rate is a lot less.. a work mate moved out to NZ 1 year back with his family and 5 kids, (yes 5 ) and never looked back.. Sold up the lot: House for 180k the furniture the sink and the cat too. got a massive mansion in New Zealand with a beach / sea front view and spare change too to kit it all out. he could not see the reason to stay on in RIP OFF Britain anymore. This daft Gov is sinking it further down the swanny, leaving the mess to the next government to clean-up (which will be too late by then). :tsktsk: The sickening thing is the people are not protesting anymore be it about the fuel duty (GO on Truckers Respect..) and the intended Road Tax increase, the cost of energy (which the gov, charge a tax on to) :tsktsk: The people have become mindless subordinates and keep taking it in the pocket each time the Gov turns on the motorist to raise some capital. Where is the Pride and passion gone from the people _ Vi-Va Revolution. :shutit: (Follow the French example) not that I am a frenchy.. :duh: Sorry Rant over.. So in conclusion DO NOT relocate here it’s just not worth it…any more I am seriously thinking of moving out..
  7. HI, Been running mine on lpg for about 2 years now and things to look out for or ask the installer is:- 1. what type and make is the kit (best use the Italian makes and insist on a multipoint system – no loss of power). 2. insist on having Flash Lube installed (very easy and cheap to do ( you can pick one of fleebay for around £80 inc. flashlube bottle) 3. make sure you can have it checked out and diagnostics read (your engine light will start to flash – once you have it read you will now what’s at fault and how to rectify the problem) in my case its just saying fuel mixure to leane or rich, which is to do with the gas. 4. I recommend a spare wheel tank (it sits in your spare wheel well) and just keep the spare wheel in the boot (takes up less space than a cylinder tanks and more capacity). Good luck and hope you will keep on Lexing (its fast becoming clear that going gas is the easiest way to keep running the lexus) :winky: if you have any questions just ask. :) Dibslpg
  8. Not sure at all but i would speak to the local bobby ? But most likly it will fall in the hand of the Council and them the cops eventually end up in the crusher or some police appointed scrappers but leaglay you are not the owner and if the real owner can not be found then i guess it belongs to the state, best to speak to a solicitor? :winky: to see if there is a way to claime it.. Good luck and keep us posted please, it would be interested to see what is the options..?
  9. Sounds to me like a dirty MAF sensor. I had this issue about a year ago. CRC make a MAF sensor cleaner. @ screws to remove it, and a good spray with the cleaner should see you right if that is the problem soory to jump in but i was told that the is200 did not have a MAF sensor or was it you would never need to replace it Mine is doing the sampe too.. so would be intersted if there was a MAF sensor scleaner out there then can you please link the site mate? Cheers Dibs
  10. coming from Yorkshire i must say thats about spot on too... Cracker :P :D
  11. Not sure but i am thinking of hopping out of this Rip-Off Britain, Sick to death of the increasing TAX demands of the GOV F Blinkers etc.... I would Opt for Dubai, Open Roads, Petrol cheaper than water and plenty of camels to run over on them empty roads too.. Providing you can stand the heat. But i recommend you do you research has i was thinking of moving to Dubai but found out that the pricies for renting a Flat are atomically and most ask for a years payment upfront etc... So be careful and check out the online forums like i did Expat.com Keep us posted mate like to see where you decide to move to. Dibs

  14. Hi all, Finally had the Transmission Fluid Changed by the Local Garage and they new what they were doing plus i handed them the valuable advise submitted here :winky: (Thanks a Lot) which made there job a lot easier and quicker hence cheaper..(£75) :D Having a chat, they mentioned the Oil was black and smelled burned so was overdue a change, the Mesh Filter was gunged up, he had to leave it to soak ina parafin bath for 45mins before cleaning it up. The used all the Fluid 5lts and looked up the Fluid levels required and said that it was set the correct levels when cold, hot and going throught the grears etc.. So when i check the fluid level what should i be looking for please? Want to make sure it is correct for my peice of mind If it is low i will have to buy some more ATF-Type IV fluid (oouch). Also sorted the LPG bug out and looked at the ECU via the Laptop and no codes were coming up even though the engine light pops up from time to time?? Any suggestions please? It is running a lot smoother and the gears changes are not even noticable has well has quicked of the mark, overall well pleased. :D Cheers for the pointers and look forward to continued advice :winky: :) Dibslpg

  20. Update on the Gearbox saga, been chasing up the Specialist in Bradford RS Transmission came highly recommended by three mechanics’ . Spoke to the Techi who said “get the gearbox Filter and we will be able to do the rest using our own Dextron 2 oil (best on market, which they ahve used for years and never had any probs etc.. ) ?? Asked the Dealers about a Gear Box Filter, they called it a strainer and said it is you do not need to change it all unless something goes wrong.. if I wanted one its £52 + VAT. :o So my Q is Should i buy the Strainer / Filter along with the Type IV Transmission Oil then hand it over for a Complete gearbox oil change? or just buy the filter and hand it over and let them use their own Dextron Oil? Help??? Dibslpg

  22. remove the Glove box by pulling out the two Hing pins (keep them safe) and the Glove box just drops down. You will see a Tray with pull written on it and has it say pull.. Its just above the blower motor and very easy to replace :-) I sprayed some of that Fabreeze stuff on the pollen filer first and it smelled a lot better once it was full blast. Good luck Dibs
  23. Agree with the rest, Deffo looks like a major suspension re-build - hidden costs underneath the car. Plus where are you going to locate the parts from? Stealers sorry i mean the Lexus Dealers (most parts will be dealer items only) or perhaps Scrappers? - in that case the parts will be very rear to locate too. Best to keep clear..mate. Dibs
