  1. do you get UK cars, or europe cars? the reason why i ask this is that you mentioned the IS200 executive, which is a europe model, and isnt entirely the same as the UK SE. and in europe the IS200 Sport does not have the half leather as standard but the executive does in UK both SE and Sport have half leather in addition, in europe the electric seats and 8 speaker stereo are also options, whereas standard in UK. compare these to the cars you've seen if you need any more info, visit Lexus Europe
  2. this may sound a little silly but is it possible someone hit the car when it was parked?
  3. that is absolute genius mate, i bet he learnt his lesson yeah i hate tailgaters too, find that turning on fogs usually irritates them enough to back off, or otherwise could let them pass and then ride their bumper till they learn that it aint fun to be tailgated :D (that isnt a very good idea though and i wouldnt recommend it )
  4. you forgot that the stereo no longer eats cds :winky:
  5. most people would say the BMW cos its a BMW however the lexus is far 'cooler' (thats not me speaking, its what others have said having seen it) the IS is very unknown in this country, and thats why its less popular - many people dont know it exists!
  6. the one in the newer IS models is not actually a levinson developed stereo as in the LS, GS, SC, RX but instead is one that they claim to have put together using the parts they developed from those stereos i'm not complaining in any way about the quality of the sound, i think its brilliant (hence i have no plans at all about changing headunit, amp, speakers, etc.) however, there is definitely not enough bass in the system and i'm just trying to find a way to enhance that (especially considering that the older systems had this, which were in fact nakamichi compared to the fujitsu units in the newer cars)
  7. i have the lexus armrest, (cos its an auto) and it doesnt get in the way of the satnav, and if you find it does, you can always lift it up
  8. yeah, sounds like a good idea, but i would like to still have the whole of what is already quite a small boot. therefore, i'm trying to have adding a subwoofer as a last resort are the small powered subs that dont need enclosures, any good???
  9. sorry mate, but u cant have I's on UK plates :o
  10. do you guys who get new stereos when the err3 message comes up get a new 'old' stereo (cd bottom) or a new one (cd top) just curious
  11. yeah you'll definitely lose NCD on this one because it is a claim, as the other party didn't stick around can none of the parts be repaired or does it all need to be replaced? if you can find somewhere to jus repair, it'll save you a lot, had to do the same with my old car
  12. thats not fair, can't those people just turn the bass down? ;) better have a word to my dealer about this and find out wot exactly has changed, and whether it can be fixed
  13. cupholders? it has a lid, mines open
  14. wots the flap next to the handbrake?
  15. how did that happen, you were a bit lucky (getting the better non-jamming headunit but still the good quality sound) so the speakers are the same in the old and the new cars - does that mean if i get one of these old amps, i wont need to add a sub possibly? and are these old amps still available from lexus? those frequency filters sound cool (but as i dont really have a clue about this stuff, everything does) but i dont want to tamper with the system too much for warranty reasons, or does this not involve much tampering?
  16. i think the same person/people are working on full closure now
  17. just one question, this was a joke when you posted it, wasn't it?
  18. can i ask any manual owners, whether there has ever been a situation (stuck in a traffic jam etc.) where they have thought to themselves 'wish i had an auto' and how many auto drivers have thought 'wish i had a manual' i'm quite sure that this will be quite one-sided, well hopefully simple reason is that with an auto, can still shift around through the gate (or with paddles for e-shift) but with a manual, there is no auto option (ignoring hiring a chauffeur :P )
  19. have u taken something off, cos i'm sure theres a bit that sticks off the bumper that the plate screw into
  20. Stick it on ECT-PWR and it redlines itself, OR you can shift through the autobox yourself whoever said before was right, because you would want to change gear before the bend rather than through it because firstly you want to carry the power through the bend, and secondly, downshifting mid-corner can be quite dangerous as you can lose the tail quite easily yeah you're absolutely right and it is a good auto box but i'm just trying to find some justification for whythe nice people at lexus only put a 4 speed in the 200 basically, i have nothing against manuals, but the auto is far more practical in the city and driving is soooo much easier, especially when you need to make a phonecall (with a hands-free kit ) or have a drink, or a snack......
  21. I'm quite sure they dont do this because i asked when i bought the car and he laughed at me saying that would be a waste of resources (have to send out a driver and a car, normally driver goes by bus to pick up your car, or you drop off and pick up courtesy car, not both)
  22. i have an auto and i love it. i would prefer it to be a five or six speed auto because its a bit irritating that you lose so much performance because of it but the four speed is much smoother for the passengers because it changes around much less. as i live in london, there is hardly any use to a manual at all because you cant enjoy the driving experience (except the odd 100 metre dash from one set of traffic lights to the next! woo-hoo!) and just end up living on the clutch. you can always switch around using the gear positions on the auto selector anyway with an auto, can just sit back relax and enjoy the comfort of the lex P.S. wouldnt mind a tiptronic though :P
  23. do lexus give out courtesy cars for things other than services?
  24. i think you may have too much time on your hands mate! :P but anyway, yeah it dont seem so bad now, i was gettin confused with the £24k my car cost new you're right about the IS200, thats one of the reasons i bought it in the first place, cos it depreciated slower than the merc c-class, bm 3 series, volvo s60, audi a4, well basically all of them! if those figures are right (and i'm sure they are) then why are people so stupid as to buy brand new mondeos and omegas, when you could buy a 1 year old one for less than half price we should all go round car parks tellin new mondeo owners how stupid they are (now i'm the one with too much time!)
