Comparing insurance purely on price is folly. As an example I wouldn't touch Admiral with a barge pole after having to fight with them for 6 months after an accident to get them to pay out the amount I had originally stated on the commencement of the policy, and an amount that the financial ombudsman agreed with. With insurance companies you never know how good they are until you need to call on them to make good on their side of the agreement.

Ross - Do your mirrors auto fold on locking the car (need to leave auto mode selected on the mirror switches)? If so then I think they should be able to dip when reversing.

IIRC you need to have the leather seat option to get the auto dipping mirrors.

A lot of talk and discussion about one particular dealer here, i'd be very surprised if you can't find another Lexus dealer in the US willing to help or maybe even an aftermarket parts supplier willing to source OEM parts and supply. In the Toyota world there are quite a few of us who have been sourcing spares from the US for many years and there are nowadays a number of dealers willing to ship worldwide. The many online parts catalogues mean making sure you specify the correct part number at the time you order easy enough and the parts can often arrive in just over a week (if in stock). As for tax, well sometimes you win, sometimes you loose you just need to consider this in the overall price you are quoted.

Thanks for the info, over £5K off the list price....be interesting to see how close the dealer can get :) TBH if you went in towards the end of the month and the end of a quarter, you'd probably have no trouble getting that amount of discount. As above, your engine will be running very rich after a cold start to try and bring the temps up, think about an old carb engine where you used to have a choke to restrict the amount of air entering the carb but still the same amount (or more) fuel. Same thing still happens on a modern engine and it will be more noticeable at the moment as we start to head into winter.

Call their bluff, ask them to let you drive the one with black leather until the original spec you ordered turns up, if not threaten to cancel the whole order. ;)
