  1. I take my hat off to you sir! Your dogged determination and patience has been rewarded.
  2. Your car was parked on a busy road AND a cyclist went past! They are so brazen.
  3. my only gripe is the harsh ride compared to my old RX400h
  4. My LS 400 is really spoiled by its wheels. A member on here sprayed his own wheels for less than £70 (IIRC). As soon as the warmer weather comes, I will do the same. I thought about a diamond cut but was advised against it. Powder coat is cheaper but imagine accidental scuffing! I think I will be happy with a diy job. I do appreciate Paul's view. I also understand what Malc says. It is down to the individual, regarding what they are happy with. If my DIY turns out to be a bodge I will probably go down the powder coat route. Horses for courses. I do believe that the colour and finish of wheels are very important to the look of a car. I do NOT like black wheels. Just my opinion.
  5. I have also just purchased the NX 300h. What are your initial thoughts on the car?
  6. Are your lights LED's? Are the plastic l;enses clear? I have experienced two RX identical models, both with very different lighting ability - though they had the same specification of lights.
  7. I have a feeling it has already been purchased. Pity Bill did not come on here before purchase. Will depend on how the car has been used and how it will be used by his daughter.
  8. Good luck Keith, that looks stunning. Lovely colour.
  9. Did you buy the car from a Lexus Dealership? They may have a customisation procedure for the volume. Worth a phone call.
  10. There is a simple reset procedure. Sorry I can't remember as the Lexus dealer did it when I had a new battery fitted. The rear hatch would not open, even manually. It is a procedure involving the key fob. If you phoned a Lexus dealer I am sure they would be able to give you the sequence.
  11. Sorry to hear that Kieran. Hope it works out for you.
  12. Found this interesting - some not applicable to UK
  13. The old girl will be 25 years old in March. Passed MOT for another year! Surface rust underneath only advisory. This car blows me away.
  14. I did not realise Lexus had stolen a Citreon idea! Your indicators don't cancel?
  15. Well Dave, first of all congratualtions on owning a Lexus. You are going from an estate car to an older 2 door coupe (?), if I have done my research carefully. The two cars would appear to be chalk and cheese, so I am intrigued by exactly what you are concerned about?
  16. This is just a thought. Regarding hybrids, as has been mentioned above, the mechanical brakes only come on in the last few seconds as the regenerative braking is used until around 5 mph (Unless you brake hard). When discs get a bit "rusty" they do tend to creak. I had this with my 400h. So corrosion, due to lack of use might be the reason. It might also depend on how often the car is used. Wíll try and see if the NX does the same. Anyone got an thoughts on this?
  17. I am in agreement with buyer beware, as in the past I have suffered from this issue with a Mitsubishi. Fuji red is a wonderful colour and I agree it suites thde NX and the IS. Not seen it in other models. I will advise caution! Thank you for you input.
  18. I appreciate that John. It was suggested that the newer paints, being water based, do not suffer as much as older paints. Just wondered if anyone has had experience with Fuji Red.
  19. Fuji red is a fairly new colour by all accounts. Has anyone any experience of this flat red paint fading? I have a friend who is considering a Lexus but would avoid flat red due to the chance of discolouration / fading.
  20. The wheels on my RX are the heaviest I have experienced and as an old guy with a weak back and a hernia, I don't think I will do this again. To get the wheels back on called for a number of up and down adjustments with my trolley jack, rolling the wheel backwards and forwards until it was in perfect alignment, then laying on my back and thrusting it on with my feet. I fully appreciate how difficult it can be changing large wheels. I used the same technique to lift the wheel on with my feet. £300 all in actually sounds quite reasonable if you are not capable/confident to tackle such a job. I admire you guys who do parts of your maintenance yourselves. Alas, I have to pay the going rate. Independent garages are cheaper but you do lose the Relax warranty. Horses for courses, depending on personal finances and mechanical skill.
  21. Don't take it personal Linas. There is a lot to take in these days!
