  1. I remember reading a car magazine article a few years ago, when they opened a stretch of motorway which allowed you to drive all the way to southern Italy by motorway. They did the road trip in 2 BMW 7 series cars - plus another BMW with a boot full of spares! Which they DID use! Can't imagine a Lexus needing spares!
  2. I have no doubt it will easily take all that. If not then buy a roofboot!
  3. The "chip" crisis has caused a really skewed used car market. Prices for bangers are ridiculous. Buying a car privately is at present very expensive compared with pre-COVID prices. When buying with your own money, great thought and care is needed. That is why I chose to stick with Lexus. All my previous Lexus cars (4) have been relatively OLD until I bought the NX. If you are considering buying a car from April 2017 onwards, the luxury tax (6 years) is something to consider. Personally I like lots of space in a car - particularly the boot. The NX vs the RX was a compromise for me on boot space and running costs. The X Factor was the wife, who flatly refused to drive the 4th generation RX. Car manufacturers are going through a painful readjustment. The writing is on the wall, regarding climate change. No matter how much we would love to keep the ICE, I feel it will soon be a dinosaur. Unfortunately this will not affect many of us on the forum, as we will be dead by then!
  4. The comments on his page are also very interesting. Buy the car you like and look after it, and it will look after you.
  5. Wow! Have no idea of Tesla specification - they lso do a 7 seat option!
  6. The difference however this time the entire extended family came along (6 people+luggage), and the car in question is 6.5 years old having done nearly 70k miles already. I presume you took TWO cars? What was the other vehicle, out of interest? Another EV? I would love to amble around France - very slowly!
  7. Three adults, 1 dog, large roofboot full. 39.7mpg (E5) - 38.7mpg (E10). Not scientific, just on the car's computer.
  8. I have just filled up my NX for a long journey with E5. It will not be scientific but I will see what difference in mpg there is compared to E10
  9. I must admit when I picked up my NX 300h, with 23,000 miles, the car was immaculate. Canterbury Lexus seem to prepare their cars really well.
  10. Very sorry to hear that Vlad. Hope you get back on the road soon. Will you look for a cheap runaround for now?
  11. No Derek! You WILL have enough time to buy another one!
  12. Really good to have member recommendations - thank you.
  13. My main gripe is that the instructions do not mention this. They are all visual - no text.
  14. Not quite that simple Alex, by all accounts. YouTube, fortunately, had the answer after some searching. There is no mention in the instruction booklet about exactly how the bars should be fitted. It appears there is a front bar and a rear bar. They look identical to me. Not only that but each bar has a left and right side! This is printed on the ends but is not shown in the leaflet. There must be a reason for marking front/back - left/right but there is nothing in the instructions. I wonder if other people have realised they go on a particular way? The video below explains it clearly. Look from 2.47 on the video below:-
  15. Mesa red - Tan interior - the BEST!
  16. Has anyone fitted Lexus Roof Bars themselves to their NX300h using the instruction booklet? The instructions are all visual and, I feel, do not fully cover the correct fitting of the bars.
  17. Where are you transferring your music from (to the USB)? Do the files show up on the USB stick via your computer?
  18. I agree, it is the width rather than the length that is more of an issue. The fuel consumption in urban driving can be eye watering. On a good run (over 20 miles) on motorways or A roads it is very acceptable for a 4 litre V8 in my opinion. You need to compare the LS400 with and XJ Jag of similar vintage to appreciate the difference in quality and economy..
  19. Look at what bells and whistles you already have and see if you can find a similar spec. My NX does not have memory seats like my old RX but it really does not bother me. Fuel economy may not be quite as good as your IS 300h but around 40 mpg is good as far as I am concerned. Not sure you would get a decent part exchange as they would be unlikely to sell your car, it will probably go to auction. Use WBAC to get a ball park figure and see a Lexus dealer can get near it. Had my NX 6 months and agree with previous contributors. You will enjoy the extra space.
  20. Is Canterbury Toyota going to be transferred to Steven Eagell?
  21. This can be annoying, as when it detects a 20 mph zone it will stay there until it "sees" another sign. They do not put 30mph signs after a 20mph zone.
  22. Very difficult to put a value on these cars. Trade wise they are not worth much but to those "in the know" they can attain decent money - depending on condition. Consider your valuation of the car and then look on AutoTrader to see what you ca.n buy for that money (other makes not just Lexus). I was somewhat surprised of how little you get for £4,000
