  1. There is a simple reset procedure. Sorry I can't remember as the Lexus dealer did it when I had a new battery fitted. The rear hatch would not open, even manually. It is a procedure involving the key fob. If you phoned a Lexus dealer I am sure they would be able to give you the sequence.
  2. Sorry to hear that Kieran. Hope it works out for you.
  3. Found this interesting - some not applicable to UK
  4. The old girl will be 25 years old in March. Passed MOT for another year! Surface rust underneath only advisory. This car blows me away.
  5. I did not realise Lexus had stolen a Citreon idea! Your indicators don't cancel?
  6. Well Dave, first of all congratualtions on owning a Lexus. You are going from an estate car to an older 2 door coupe (?), if I have done my research carefully. The two cars would appear to be chalk and cheese, so I am intrigued by exactly what you are concerned about?
  7. This is just a thought. Regarding hybrids, as has been mentioned above, the mechanical brakes only come on in the last few seconds as the regenerative braking is used until around 5 mph (Unless you brake hard). When discs get a bit "rusty" they do tend to creak. I had this with my 400h. So corrosion, due to lack of use might be the reason. It might also depend on how often the car is used. Wíll try and see if the NX does the same. Anyone got an thoughts on this?
  8. I am in agreement with buyer beware, as in the past I have suffered from this issue with a Mitsubishi. Fuji red is a wonderful colour and I agree it suites thde NX and the IS. Not seen it in other models. I will advise caution! Thank you for you input.
  9. I appreciate that John. It was suggested that the newer paints, being water based, do not suffer as much as older paints. Just wondered if anyone has had experience with Fuji Red.
  10. Fuji red is a fairly new colour by all accounts. Has anyone any experience of this flat red paint fading? I have a friend who is considering a Lexus but would avoid flat red due to the chance of discolouration / fading.
  11. The wheels on my RX are the heaviest I have experienced and as an old guy with a weak back and a hernia, I don't think I will do this again. To get the wheels back on called for a number of up and down adjustments with my trolley jack, rolling the wheel backwards and forwards until it was in perfect alignment, then laying on my back and thrusting it on with my feet. I fully appreciate how difficult it can be changing large wheels. I used the same technique to lift the wheel on with my feet. £300 all in actually sounds quite reasonable if you are not capable/confident to tackle such a job. I admire you guys who do parts of your maintenance yourselves. Alas, I have to pay the going rate. Independent garages are cheaper but you do lose the Relax warranty. Horses for courses, depending on personal finances and mechanical skill.
  12. Don't take it personal Linas. There is a lot to take in these days!
  13. I had the same issues when my battery was changed by Lexus. The rear hatch would not open. Check your handbook. there are procedures you need to follow to reset doors and window operation. Sorry can't remember the procedure but it is something to do with the key fob. My advice, if you can't find out in the handbook, is go to a friendly Lexus dealer. The receptionist sorted mine out as she knew all the tricks/procedures.
  14. Wow! That is a new one! Sorry can't help. Did the dealer setup your infotainment system?
  15. What is HCEV? I Googled and it said Hepatitis! I was under the impression burning hydrogen did not need catalysts????
  16. I feel you have made some very interesting points Bernard. As we have experienced with diesel cars, the wind can change rather quickly. "I can see it working in boats, trucks, agricultural big machines etc, but passenger cars will be battery electric powered and that is it." I would add to your prediction that there will be a half-way house for many people, using Plug-in Hybrids. I suggest this is not a good time to buy a new car with any certainty. Budget constraints, for most people, prevent them even considering an electric or plug-in hybrid. If you can afford a new, or nearly new, car it is not a straightforward choice. I decided to stick with what I know, time will tell if it was the right decision.
  17. I still do the conversion to gallons then work out the mpg!
  18. Have you tried more than one disc? Try a different DVD and then try a couple of different CD's? Just a thought?
  19. How are you getting on with the NX user guide John?
