  1. Now I've started upgrading my sound system. I've just replaced the front door speakers and tweeters, in minus ten degrees Celcius :duh:
  2. Thanks :) If I had saved all the money I've spent on my car (including bying it) it would be enough to buy an IS250, but then I wouldn't have had this fun. Sorry, I missed this post. I'll get back to you tomorrow, mate.
  3. That's kind of what we do in Sweden. Most cars sold here are factory fitted with block/compartment heaters. Plug in the front bumper Connect to an outlet, usually found at home and at work. You can select what time you want the block heater to start. Inside the car you get a 230V outlet Suitable for compartment heaters
  4. Hello mate, and thanks :) I bough my angel eyes here in Sweden, but I think the same ‘model’ is also sold on Ebay. This is how they look: ____________________________________________________ Platinum ice :)
  5. Just a comparison between the old and the new speaker covers.
  6. No problem Jason, I forgot to bring my camera to work yesterday. Will probably do it this weekend  Thank you :) I promise you I didn’t look skillful at all when I fitted the dials, more like scared to death. I have to admit I found it really hard fitting them, but they turned out nicely in the end. Credits to Jason for this wonderful idea. ______________________________________________________ My car just passed its MOT!! :D I was a bit worried about my HID system, my strobes, my extra ligths, my rear LED lights and fog lights, and if they would be able to fit their exhaust hose onto my 5” HKS exhaust. The only comment I got was “Nice car!” :)
  7. Thanks mate :) I'm glad you like it Thanks a lot :) Absolutely, mate. I'm just glad to help. About 2pm tomorrow I will take another picture. I've figured that time it will still be bright enough for the dials to shine and dark enough for them to be visibly lit. We'll see how it goes.
  8. Thanks :) Without the excellent guide that came with the dials I wouldn't have made it though. Lucky b*stard :) That's half the price Swedish Toyota dealers charge IS that including paint or just the part ??? Yep, they come pre painted in any Lexus color you want, complete with the big ALTEZZA logo. I'm sorry mate I was so eager to fit them that I didn't remember to let you know. Thank you Mr. Jason :) Everyone has different tastes, personally I preferred the stock to the TTE and the Legana over all three - if we all thought the same we'd all be driving around in identical cars :) I totally agree with you. The TTE bumper is not ugly, but i would prefer a stock bumper with a TRD lip to it. However, the Legana beats everything :) That fact that it IS an OEM bumper makes me want it even more. ________________________________________________________________ As promised, two more pics. I will try to take a pic of the bonus stainless steel frame tomorrow.
  9. These are the km/h only clusters: 1999, 2000, 2001: XE 02 2002, 2003: XE 04 2004, 2005: I’m not sure, but it’s third one.
  10. Thanks mate. You just emptied my wallet :D I've got to buy the Legana bumper soon. Yesterday a package arrived, my stainless steel dials :) Hopefully I will be able to take some nice pictures of them tomorrow. Edit: As promised, two more pics. I will try to take a pic of the bonus stainless steel frame tomorrow.
  11. Hello mate, It's never loud :) In high revs it does sound really sporty, but still not loud. Inside the car you won't notice any difference at all. A few months ago I recorded some sound clips to make a comparison video, but I used two different cameras and unfortunately my editing program only likes the videos from one of them. Therefore I never finished the video. It does look mighty, though :D Edit: Here's one of my short sound clips: http://www.garaget.org/video/eij6jwp1nkx1
  12. Wow ! That was using snow mode, as per your picture, right ? That is correct :) I also found out that if you drive in the 'slip stream' of big trucks you consume even less, but they tend to get really annoyed after a while.
  13. I just broke my own record last weekend, when I drove 862,2 km (535,7 miles) on 61,73 litres (13,4 gallons) of petrol, that's an average of 39,5 mpg, with three people and quite a lot of luggage in the car. With that same consumption you could theoretically get 608 miles on a single tank :)
  14. AAAAARGH!!!! *kind of like the deatch scream of C&C soldiers* After days of searching I finally found the part number for the Legana front (08164-53010-B0). I gave it to the local Toyota dealer and asked for a quote... 29.613 kr (£2369) I think I'll just keep looking for a second hand one. If I can't find one before the spring I will order it from Japanparts.com - £768 + shipping
  15. Assuming you have the same problem as I'm experiencing it's not the clutch itself, but you need to remove the gearbox to solve it. The only time you want to do that is when you replace the clutch after it's been worn out. I had my car examined for half a day at a Lexus garage. The only thing they could come up with was a worn clutch release bearing, but that makes no sense as the sound can be heard for about a second during hard acceleration, even though I don’t touch the clutch pedal. However, I took it to another Lexus garage (with great reputation) and they told me exactly what it is. A bushing inside the gearbox have gone a bit dry and therefore makes the sound. As I said, it’s not harmful at all and it would be quite expensive to open up the gearbox to just replace the bushing. They told me it would be a shame to replace my clutch as it’s in very good condition. It’s super annoying. I only hear it when my windows are open and I drive through narrow streets where the sound can bounce on the walls, but the fact that I know it’s there annoys me. I was recently on my way to buying a TTE supercharger. I thought that would give me a reason to upgrade the clutch and fix the bushing at the same time. An expensive solution, but in the end it would turn out a quicker car :) Thanks mate :P Although I’m just familiar to this problem as I’m experiencing it myself.
  16. Hi, You can't remove them without damaging either the shelf or the covers. This sounds complicated, but it's just 10 minutes of work. Remove the rear seats and the C(D?) pillars, then you can remove the rear shelf along with the speaker covers. Cheers
  17. yeh only when i get upto about 30mph + with my foot down, it whistles.. And only when in gear? In that case I probably know what it is, but I don't know how to translate it from Swedish. It's not harmful at all, and it will disappear when the clutch is replaced, in the future.
  18. Does it sound almost like one of the belts slipping when you pull away? Try to open your windows and accelerate close to a wall, see if you can hear it more clearly.
  19. No, really, the bathtub is in the workshop :D It sits there among welding sets, pillar drills lathes etc. Besides, my girlfriend gets to drive all sorts of nice cars that I borrow from the dealers :P
  20. Thank you for the advice. Australia and NZ seem to be homes to a lot of tezzas. I think NZ is as far away as you can possibly get from here, without leaving the earth, but if I buy one second hand it might be worth it. My projectors have been delayed a bit. Winter came and forced me out into the snow… My summer wheels have been washed and are now hibernating in the basement, along with two sets of OEM 17” IS wheels. And yes, I do have a bathtub in my workshop :D Excellent for cleaning car parts.
  21. My car will hopefully get resprayed this winter. You seem to be aiming at the same color as I am :) http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...42&hl=frost
  22. After I had my belts replaced my car squeeked a lot when it was cold, even though I only turned the wheel slightly. However, I had the car serviced last friday, so I told the mechanics about the problem. I turned out to be easily solved. They just tightened the belts and the noise was gone :) Cheers
  23. The IS-F will be tested in next week's episode :D
  24. I work next to a laser/water cutting company. If we are lucky they have the right tools for these things as well. I'll talk to them tomorrow and let you know what they think about it. I visited them this afternoon and just as the last time they told me they are not able to make this, but at least I got the name of a company that might be. Hopefully I can pay them a visit tomorrow.
