  1. Hi,all i can say is count yourself lucky as you should have changed your cambelt 2 years ago and while at it change the water pump, tensioner, and idler.
  2. Hi lucky you, thanks your stars you did,its still surprising that even after reading this piece some are still contemplating taking the risk.Remember its 60,000mls or 6 years whichever comes 1st,you will save yourself alot of money by having it done if you are not sure if its been.I had mine done at 55,000 with car just under 6yrs old along with the water pump, tensioners etc.Dont leave it to chance.
  3. Hi except you have one of the new generation sat navs the answer is sadly a no as far as I am aware.
  4. Lexus IS tops JD power survey 2011 and Lexus named best manufacturer for the 11th year in a row
  5. So what did you mean then? As that's how I read it. Hi all I meant was that condsidering that they have to come a long way(Japan) and that even when they arrive in the UK that they dont go straight to the dealers, there is the liklihood that there will be a few scratches here and there, even with the protective coating, which the dealers will then have to sort out once they take delivery before allowing their prospective owners to pick them up.
  6. Brand new £28/£30k car which needs touching up? Who on earth told you it was a common problem? So are the cars leaving the factory scratched, being scratched in transit or being scratched in UK whilst being prepped for delivery? I just cannot believe the apparent acceptance of scratched paintwork on a brand new "so called" luxury brand. I would not have accepted it on my wifes i30!!! Hi,but excuse me can we all begin to live in the real world, seems as if some of us live in a make believe world???? So are you saying that in the real world you find scratched paintwork on a new Lexus being a "common problem" is perfectly acceptable or am I misunderstanding your post? hi,yes you are misunderstanding my post

  8. Hi,if you have a look at your screen just below the wipers you should be able see what for want of another word something that looks like a 'black circuit board' or heating elements that run across the length of your screen. If you can see this then its heated.Furthermoremore if you are having your windscreen changed,I would insist on a lexus(OEM)one.
  9. Hi,had mine done for just over £500 - included cambelt, idler, tensioner, water pump and service(plugs.oil etc) by my garage - independent.
  10. Hi,take out the disc and input disc number into lexusmapupates and should give you the part number for the latest disc updates, alternatively pm ACLex (he will probably need your vin number)and he should be able to help or you could also email cheaptoyotaparts.Best going through one of the above if you dont want to end up buying the wrong disc.
  11. Hi with ref to mud flaps you are probably better off getting them brand new through LOC(pm ACLex) and he should be able to get you sorted, got mine through him.Bet you the ones on ebay eventually go for more than they cost brand new.
  12. Hi there mine revs at about 2000 or just under when cold and falls to about 600 - 750 revs a few minutes after warming up.
  13. Hi there sadly in this time of economic down turn larger car are more difficult to shift doesnt really matter what make they - you got cost of petrol to think of,road tax etc,a work colleague of mine just bought a Ford Focus 1.6 Diesel and pays £35 a year road tax and my IS costs me £245. In last sundays NOW Newspaper are a list of Depreciation duffers and winners eg a Chrysler 300C had a residual value of £10,778 after 3 years(£44910 new) 24% residual value while a E63 AMG had a residual value of £35,973 after 3 years(£73,415 new)51% residual value,Alfa Brera 3.2 V6 JTS - £9,535 29% residual value(£32,878 new),Audi TT Coupe fsi £14,650 60% residual value(£27,130 new)to mention a few.Sadly as soon as you leave the show room with your car it loses value while dealers equally want to pay as little as they can and make as much as they can.
  14. hi, the choice is yours as to whether you remove it or not
  15. Hi and welcome to the club, should have come with SAT NAV manual, mine did, easy to use once you get the hang of it,updated discs will probably cost you about £139.00,you may get them cheaper off ebay but be careful you dont end up buying the wrong one.
  16. Hi,at a guess I would say they originally had Bridgestones as this is Lexus prefered choice, having said that some owners say they are rather noisy.I have currently got Bridgestones on the front and goodyear f1's on the rear of my IS 200.I have never been fan of cheap tyres(you pay for what you get) as they compromise handling and grip. There are quite a few tyres out there to choose from - Goodyears,Bridgestones,Dunlop,Continentals, etc just dont go for budget 1s,hope this helps.
  17. Hi, theres no Haynes manual for the IS 200,however you might be able to download some sort of repair manual,I would be surprised if it actually is the tank itself that is leaking(on a six year old????)I have had 2 IS 200 and havent encounted this problem, maybe some other members could shed more light on this issue
  18. H,I have got a pipercross airfilter in mine, cant say I have really noticed any difference, however does work out cheaper in the long run if nothing else hehe.
  19. Hi,take you old disc out and write down the disc number, input the number into the lexus map updates web site and this should give you the latest disc updates part number and price.Alternatively try cheaptoyotaparts mine cost me £139.00p.Be careful what you buy else where as you might end up with the wrong disc or one that doesnt work.
  20. Hi,as far as i know, they are legal, just bear in mind only the brakes/parking lights are l.e.d.s,you will have to use normals bulbs for the signals and reverse.
  21. Hi send ACLex a pm as he may be able to help or try cheaptoyotaparts, mine cost me £139.00p for the 2009/10 version or you could try ebay(but be careful as you could end up buying the wrong disc(s).
  22. Hi would have cambelt, tensioners and water pump(just to be on the safe side) even if the water pump is not leaking. And the Idler! Sorry forgot to mention the idler.
  23. Hi yes it does make sense having it changed at the same time even if it shows no signs of a leak,it will only cost you more money if you dont have it done and in a few months or so it does go .
  24. Hi would have cambelt, tensioners and water pump(just to be on the safe side) even if the water pump is not leaking.
