  1. I dont have an LS but this sounds like an awkward job to do, so dont shoot us down for this. Can the flanges/bell ends be cut off with an angle grinder and a sleeve made 2-3" long, using exhaust pipe with an internal diameter slightly larger than the external diameter of the LS pipe so it slips over and can be mig welded in situ. Dont like the idea of brazing, open oxy/gas flame under the car and it may fracture in use, vibration etc.
  2. I think it was being offered as an alternative idea. Mike Bluesman & rjthomas. I've posted a reply on the GS300 site with a couple of pics. I posted on this topic months ago and yes my reply then was an alternative to OEM S/N,...... a sort of 'Geordie Plan B'
  3. This was in the car when I bought it. I dont think it had OEM S/N as standard. The CD changer was taken out but the iPod and USB work fine and there's a Mutant power amp in the boot, sub under parcel shelf, rear park sensors and rear view camera. It needs a TV module (£150) to receive stations and a S/N update (£140) but I dont know if that would give post codes. Prepare yourself for plenty of reading as there's well over 100 pages in the manuals. It has Bluetooth but I've never had and dont want a car phone. DVD,CD,Radio,iPod,USB,S/N all work fine.
  4. The Blue one on Teesside got a final bid of £4672.19. Wonder if this is enough and will the buyer turn up. The green one in Newcastle never got a bid from its start of £2700. Strange!!
  5. I've used Autosounds on Scotswood Rd Newcastle and they were very obliging and reasonable. Now tell me you live in Berwick!!!
  6. Above photo. Were these 17" an option,or fitted on later models as standard . The 2000/2002 GS300's I've seen have these fitted ( as standard?). In fact my neighbour's 'W' reg has these on. My car is 98 'S' and came with these pictured below. Inside the rim is stamped Toyota 16 7½ JJ 50. Tyre size 225/55/16 .
  7. Has any one on here got a 'surplus to requirements' Radio/cassette double din oem head unit to fit a MK2 GS300 please. Thanks.
  8. After looking for months and months for a nice GS300 after selling my MK3LS and appreciating how good Lexus' are, a lovely 'S' reg came up for sale locally, which I posted in October and can you believe it, my neighbour, 6 doors down, turns up with a practically identical car a couple of months ago. FLSH 'W' reg with S/N and after admiring each others cars he's given me first refusal on his. Strange isn't it as we live in a small cul-de-sac of 30 houses.
  9. The list price for a 1998 'R' MK4 LS was £49850 and the blue one on Teeside with 36000mls is only 3years old on its mileage. Food for thought!! at about £5000. Does this make the green one in Newcastle with 65000 miles even better value with a starting price of £2700 and never got a bid when it was listed a couple of months ago. Going down the same line this is 5/6 years old on its mileage.
  10. Yes I saw it had been put back on. I also thought that not listing the fault with the steering column was surprising. I could understand forgetting to list a bulb not working but the steering column is a major fault. Wonder what else hasn't been listed? It would be interesting to hear from someone who has seen and driven it. Mike. Message from the seller. Steering motor packed up after the end of auction.Toyota said it needs a new motor. Only 34 mls from me. Can you resist the temptation and go and have a good look. The reserve has been done away with so it will go this time. Mike I wouldn't pay £5000 for a car and I cannot get away with grey interior. The green LS in Newcastle was listed in the winter and at the time I tried to get a day time viewing the seller's work hours prevented it.I think its start price was over £3000 with no bids and even now I think it's still too high a start price at £2700. My dilemma is I've got an excellent 'S' reg GS300 with only 80000 on the clock. My Saab 9.5 is up for sale and I want to stick to one car from now on.

Only 34 mls from me. Item number: 180857897444. This one's been relisted. Only 20 minutes from me and my choice of interior colour. Lexus biege leather-lovely. Saab beige leather nearly as good but only with electric memory option

  13. They look the same as my oem 16" spare. It has Toyota stamped inside the rim
  14. Search for 'benfur' on here. Highly recommended. He breaks LS 400's for a living.
  15. I've replied and thanks. I never did get a set of these. I did get 4 oem 17" 6 spoke alloys off the bay about November which I posted a pic at that time. These are on my car now but the 16" 5 spoke are the original fitment for my year of manufacture.

  17. There's been an awful lot said on the LOC about caliper slide pins, so today I took full advantage of the good weather and had a look at my front brakes and you can see the state of the pins, covered in manky, gooey, gluey grease. I cleaned the holes using a rag plug wetted in petrol and pulled and pushed it a few times to make sure the goo was cleaned out. The pins were cleaned with a petrol rag and rubbed with fine emery. The pads were removed and all surfaces cleaned and lubed where necessary, pins were freshly greased and reassembled and vaseline applied to the outside of the rubber boot to help seal it from the weather and road gunge. If you look closely the top pin has a rubber grommet and I was wondering what purpose this serves. I should have posted a before and after pic.
  18. Your eyesight must be excellent,I was trying to see the emblem on the steering wheel but couldn't make it out either way. No engine bay picture but I'll bet it has a Toyota plate on the engine. Imports also tend to be low mileage examples too. Enlarge the Ebay picture and click on the magnifier in the bottom right corner. My glasses might be newer than your eyes!!.
  19. There's another low mileage MK4, 60.000 odd thousand, on ebay in Newcastle at about the same price.I dont know how to do a link so I cant post it.
  20. GS 300 struts fit I put them on my LS a couple of years ago.
  21. I was going to ask something on the same lines. The temp gauge takes 1 to 3 mls to reach 3-o-clock and stays there under all driving conditions. It takes about 1/2 ml for warm air to come out but never gets HOT only very comfortable. After a longish drive cold air comes from the L/H dash vents, my side stays the same. As Steve said I'll look in the book for advise and I've tried it in dual and individual settings with plenty air flow from the blower. Wait till it gets warmer to change/clean the pollen filter.......and to think I used to be a rough tough construction worker!!
  22. I have a non Sat/Nav MK2 GS 300 and this was already retro fitted by a previous owner. Its a Kenwood DNX 5220BT and does all you can see on the screen plus rear park sensors and rear view camera. Hope this helps.
