  1. WiFi, DECT phones, GSM phone all use frequencies much higher than keyfobs. In the UK most keyfobs use 433Mhz, not sure what else uses that but it's an unregulated frequency so quite a few things will.
  2. I would speak to your dealer to see if they know about the issue. Hopefully Lexus will not take the same attitude as VW.
  3. I think Kenlowe are the only people in the UK with this type of product. I purchased an older version of the product for my GS but never installed it due to lack of space in the engine bay. The newer model is smaller but take care to make sure it will fit before purchasing. The element in the engine block are really just to stop the coolant freezing and cracking the block. The Kewlowe system brings the coolant up to near normal temperature in about an hour and if you find an installer who really knows what they are doing you can get the interior fans to come on part way through to defrost the windows.
  4. it does sound like the solenoid. I believe you can take it off and clean it up which should solve the issue. I'm sure other series I owners have had the same issue in the past. It would be worth looking back through the GS forum.
  5. There is no point buying a mac if you are only going to run Window on it. Works out too expensive by the time you have purchased a copy of XP etc. If you want to switch to a different OS then the Macbook is a nice machine if the 13" screen is big enough. The Macbook would be able to do everyting you require however it will struggle with serious graphic requirements due to the on-board graphics controller. If possible try and get a machine within your budget that has a dedicated graphics controller rather than on-board Intel graphics.
  6. You should just be able to give it a clean/lube to free up it up. I cannot see how the latch can wear out unless you are cleaning your engine bay every day :)
  7. Not sure about Canada but US transponder keys operate on a different frequency range to UK ones so don't purcahse from ebay.com
  8. only know of paid ones. Alldatadiy and the one you found above which is the official Toyota/Lexus one - there is a European version of that as well.
  9. Ideally balanced on the car otherwise get them balanced elsewhere and also get the rears done as well.
  10. Lexus dealers all use different oil, depends who they get a good deal from. You can use any oil that conforms to the spec in the owners manual.
  11. Try the same test but leave the gear selector in 2 so the gearbox doesn't try and change down.
  12. factory nav can be retro fitted if you have a lot of time and money and find a donor vehicle. It will never be like the GS system though, on the IS the screen is just for Sat Nav viewing, no touch screen or audio/climate controls.
  13. I've heard about this from several members of non sat nav series II vehicles. Seems to be a problem with the LCD module itself or it's connectors. I've never tried taking one apart to clean the connectors of the display myself, others have said it cannot be taken apart.
  14. Welcome to LOC :) What age is your vehicle?
  15. Excellent news! That's good value for the pins but the clips are expensive! I recommend when the pads are changed (or every couple of years) that the sliding pins are cleaned and re-greased. What tends to happen is water gets in causing rust. This then causes wear (leading to the noise) and also may seize the caliper which then warps the disc. Do you know the part number for the pins?
  16. Fuel injectors can become noisy. Valve clearance should be checked and adjusted, if needed, every 60k miles however it's quite rare for Toyota engines to need valve clearance adjustments.
  17. Have you asked your dealer if they will come and collect your vehicle?
  18. Please can you post a link to the company selling it for $220. It's $299 direct from Vais Tech.
  19. It's common for the GS series II front brakes to wear and start to clunk. It's not dangerous but new calipers are needed if you want to get rid of the noise. That's assuming you don't have cheap, badly fitting pads or missing clips/shims.
  20. You need a master key to be able to program in another one. You don't program the key, you program the vehicle to work with the new key so you cannot mess up the key.
  21. they start to knock long before they actually fail.
  22. They used to be around £150 from dealers, I don't know if prices have changed recently.
