  1. It's always worth calculating the mpg yourself, the fuel computers are not that accurate, certainly on the non hybrids anyway.
  2. Sorry to hear about your experience but did you contact the dealership manager? If not then how can they put thing right or improve in the future?
  3. Telling an insurance company about aftermarket HIDs probably isn't the best thing to do as they probably won't be too pleased that you have illegal lights fitted to your car.
  4. No the number has nothing to do with the brightness, the number refers to the colour of the light. Sunlight is around 5200k, anything below that will look yellow and above will look blue. Stock HIDs normally are 4300k.
  5. We know that your car will need a full recovery, that is one-2-one and takes about two hours, Next friday will belong to you :D ← OK cheers Tony. I'll book a date will you soon then, cannot get time of work this week.
  6. people have done it before. Be prepared to strip out the interior of your car and it will take a long time.
  7. Instructions for changing the bulbs is in the owners manual. It's easy to do.
  8. Considering the speedo reads around 5% over the 225/40-17 options isn't too bad. It will make the speedo more accurate. You will never get a 0.00% difference.
  9. All RXs have the screen, it's used for audio and climate control and the fuel computer. You just don't get the sat nav functions.
  10. For the series II you can use the RX ones. I believe these also fit the series I. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/knowledge...ex_v2&id=90&c=1
  11. Don't put water in it use the correct Toyota coolant.
  12. If your engine makes a noise which you think comes from incorrect valve clearances then that is something to be worried about because you will damage the cam or valve. However the noise is probably from the fuel injectors.
  13. Just wondered if anyone knows if Lexus recommend a particular oil to be used by their UK dealers or do the dealers choose an oil type themselves? ← Dealers choose their own. Just needs to meet the recommendations stated in the owners manual. Most dealers use a fully synthetic but some use semi.
  14. It's possibly available on ODB-II but it wouldn't be a standard reading so you would need a Toyota/Lexus reader. Not sure how brake assist detects emergency braking - I guess there is a pressure sensor in the braking system, that could be used.
  15. it doesn't have a position sensor, only the normal switch that detects if the pedal is pressed or not. I guess you could mount another switch and adjust it to only come on when the pedal was pressed down a long way. If you have a 2001+ model with brake assist then you could probably feed into that although the brakes have to be pressed very hard for BA to activate. The vehicle already has a g-force detector for the VSC but would be very difficult to communicate with that.
  16. What is out of date? Nearly everything there is a procedure to perform a task, not sure how they change over time :duh:
  17. Hi The SRT intake is good because it isn't just an intake as it also remapped the fueling which is why you see such a bhp increase. It doesn't mess up ect. You can get other intakes and then add a fuel computer, which will need to be set up on a rolling road which would give the same performance. You also have the benefit of altering the mapping if you put on a exhaust etc. in the future. However for a simple one off upgrade you cannot beat the SRT. Not sure what that power increase will do to your 0-60 time. Probably wouldn't alter it too much. If you want to improve your acceleration from a stand still then you should look at changing your torque convertor. Nobody really mods their GS in the UK so I suggest you post on the US forums - you should get more feedback. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums
  18. If I were wiring now I would use CAT6 cable for increased distances on 100BaseT ← You shouldn't really use CAT6 to extend 100BaseT distances. There is no standard and manufacturers won't support you over 100m.
  19. lightly press the brake pedal, if the noise goes/changes it is brake related.
  20. I think it's are around the centre console area - not sure. It's a microwave detector so you cannot see it.
  21. All UK GS from dec95 onwards will have interior sensors as it's Thatcham cat I approved.
  22. Z is the speed rating - > 167mph. You only really need a V rating on the IS but most manufacturers only make a Z tyre in that size. R means the tyre is of a radial construction - all modern tyres are this type.
