If there is a problem with the master cylinder/abs actuator then there is normally a buzzer that sounds continuously so hopefully it's not that serious. You need to take it somewhere that can read the error code stored which will give more of a clue to the problem. Has any work just been done on the vehicle? -

You should be able to cut down a charcoal filter from a kitchen extractor fan. -
I would have said the IS300 as well. You obviously like your IS200 and the IS300 just improves on it. I guess you need to decide what are the main things you are looking for in a car. Your current list is quite varied from coupes to 4x4, saloons and estates etc.

The GS has a normal sender unit inside the fuel tank which controls the fuel guage.

The IS200 one isn't all that either.

They do use an Aisin (partly owned by Toyota) gearbox though ;)

Yes you need to be 25 or over to drive the cars.

Using synthetic in any engine is fine. The problem you may get it if seals etc are a little worn. Normal oil tends to sludge up a bit and blocks up the holes. However synthetic is thinner so gets through and I think it also removes the sludge.

Yes that is its weakness. If you want control then Zone Alarm is good.

How is the RX not a 4x4? It has 4 wheel drive it's just not really a true off-road vehicle. The RX is fine going across muddy fields etc. but anything more and you would need more off-road tyres and higher ground clearance etc. That's what the Lexus LX/Toyota Landcruiser is about.

I think you need an invite from your dealer rather than signing up via the web site. They have been going on now for a couple of months, seem to be spaced out more this year compared to last. I was booked on the Swindon one a few weeks ago but had to work in the end so missed out.

I wouldn't want the noise of the fans all the time. Also you may make the bay even hotter drawing hot air from the rad all the time. If you have one of those cooling panels you may want to consider removing it. It blocks up the holes that allow cool air to pass into the engine bay.

What budget do you have? If possible it would be nice to get a MKIV which became available from Jan 1998. I've spoken to a couple of owners of older LS400s that now have MKIV and there are impressed.

white smoke normally isn't oil. Burning oil produces blue smoke. Is the oil level still going down?

I'm getting calls about contracting jobs now. May need to start looking into it.
