  1. I think the new version came out with the updated LS430.
  2. http://www.tdi-plc.com/is200.html Overal power gain is not much. But they should provide more power through the rev range and reduce fuel comsumption. Worth getting with a new air filter/induction kit and cat-back exhaust.
  3. Not talking about driving around with undeclared mods. Some companies like Elephant charge extra for mods to be declared so you are legal and have full insurance. However if a modded part (e.g. alloy) needs replacing then they will only pay for the standard part. Other companies charge more for adding mods to the policy but will replace like for like in the case of an accident or theft.
  4. Veilside are always a bit OTT. Their normal Supra rear spoiler is massive.
  5. As does Guildford. I think there is a dealer with a saleswoman
  6. California is like that. 50% of cars are Lexus models and the other 50% are Toyota Camry.
  7. Is that the dealer markup? The manufacturer would have something like a 100% markup as well.
  8. Not sure about the 3 point. Maybe Zee just meant the stardard one?
  9. I don't either. I do like the 350Z. The Crossfire may look ok but it's meant to be very nasty to drive.
  10. Well servicing is. 89+vat per hour for Lexus and around 60 odd for Toyota. Parts are also more expensive. They are not always priced according to the cost to produce but to the cost of the vehicle and what the owner can afford. As and example a wheel bearing for my wifes old VW Polo cost about £30 from a main dealer but I got an original, in proper VAG packaging, for £6 from G&S.
  11. This is a fair point. I now Toyota have reduced spare prices on some older models (Carina etc.). I think it's basically so people still use genuine parts rather than 3rd party ones. You need to remember that the motor industry make a large percentage of it's money through spares. However with Lexus I think there is another reason to reduce running costs on older models. Seeing a clapped out old LS400 driving around doesn't do much for the image of Lexus.
  12. It should be possible to tell if the car has had any extra paint or not.
  13. I've amended this topic's title to reflect the confusion going on here. Maybe a new topic should be started with a confirmed date and venue so people don't have to read through 6 pages of posts and still not know what is going on?
  14. Have you tried another key to prove the key isn't faulty? If the key is fine then either something is interfering with the signal - however moving the vehicle would solve that problem - or the system has lost the key programming.
  15. I've read of problems with the RX-8 gearbox. I've also read it uses the same one as the IS200.
  16. The two car I have purchased from Lexus dealers did not include tax and if a service isn't due then they won't do it. Mats I have had to pay extra for and one of the cars only came with half a tank of fuel so I think it depends on what dealer you go to, not just all Lexus dealers.
  17. The smell is nice and it doesn't leave nasty white powder everywhere. As silver is already very reflective it is difficult to notice any difference so yes it is better on darker colours.
  18. You can take you car almost anywhere and if it's serviced correctly using genuine parts and the book stamped then the warranty is valid. I don't think this is the case for the used car warranty, it should be serviced at Lexus. I agree with Ian. The latest cars need advanced diagnostic equipment to fault find that an independent will not have. Basic servicing is fine but if you have a fault then a Lexus dealer will probably fix it much more quickly and without just swapping out parts. Saying that Lexus US are quite happy to release all TSBs and service manuals to the public so there is a lot of information out there for independents to use.
  19. If you have recently purchased the car how do you know it hasn't been in an oven?
  20. Yes a higher voltage rating is fine. The surface mount cap should either have a + or a line on it to indicate the +ve end and there may also be an indication on the PCB next to it. Otherwise you could use a meter and find out which end is connected to ground. You don't want to connect them the wrong way around!
