  1. The paint is a problem. Other manufacturers are using water based paints now and don't have this problem. The clear coat on top is normally still oil based and should provide the protection.
  2. Yes but by default the EDFC only has 16 settings. You need to put it into 32 mode by holding down a couple of buttons - although I doubt you could feel the difference between two half steps anyway.
  3. I guess it must be the RX advert. It's had more airtime again in the last few weeks. I wonder if Lexus think all RX300 owners live in a house like that? :)
  4. I'm waiting for a post now saying I only have 16 setting options not 32 ;)
  5. Is there any point in having the mats then? You could just put the transparent plastic mats directly on the carpet. :P I would go with the black mats. The cream ones would look best for the first couple of days, after that you will be cleaning them all the time.
  6. The grill is providing air flow to the radiator so you cannot block it up. Maybe you could use some sort of angled slats that will still allow the air but you cannot look directly through.
  7. It is the caps that cause the problem.
  8. They don't really do much, just check a few things. Probably your imagination. Don't see any reason why you would want to reset the ECU.
  9. Who is that with and are the mods also covered or just declared to make you legal?
  10. IS300 is very nice to drive. Go and take one for a test drive. The best RAV would be the D4-D (+ the TTE chip upgrade) but you cannot get that with an auto box.
  11. In the US the interval is 120,000 miles but for some reason it's only 60,000 miles in the UK. So you should replace them after 60,000
  12. I guess that would be the last option. Still it doesn't matter what engine you put in there it won't stop any faster than the tyres/suspension will allow.
  13. Basically yes. There is something in the Knowledgebase about this: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/knowledge..._v2&id=102&c=15
  14. Yes they are the replacement standard part along with the Denso SK20R11. The Denso Iridium Power and the TRD and HKS rebadged Densos are higher performance plugs.
  15. They used to replace with new ones but they would just corrode again, I think they refurb them now to stop it happening again. He purchased a service plan but needed to wait for the vouchers to arrive so he could get a service and whilst waiting went over the 60k limit.
  16. This is an issue with the dealer and saleman who mislead you. Have you contacted the dealership manager? Probably best to do it in writing.
  17. IK20 is the full number. However they do have resistors built-in and they are gapped to 1.1mm so they would be IK20R11 is they used their normal part number standard. Have a look here: http://www.densoiridium.com/findmypart.php It won't list the IS200 because it's not available in the US but they use the same plugs as the GS430.
  18. You could also get the IK20 Iridium Power plugs. Made a difference to my car over the standard ones. Only downside is they need replacing every 30,000 miles. There are people on ebay.com selling them. I got 8 for about £55 including postage with no customs to pay.
  19. There is nothing wrong with the IS, GS brakes in normal use. They provide enough power to lock up the wheels/activiate the ABS and therefore provide the maximum performance (brakes that produce more power would just be wasted - you can only stop as quick as the tyres will let you). There are five reasons to upgrade: -You want the brakes to look nicer -You want a different feel (won't decrease stopping distance, but may require less effort from the driver) -You want less brake dust -You have wider/softer tyres that will allow more braking -You get brake fade with continuous use (e.g. on a track/towing/mountain driving)
  20. You will learn to alter your driving style. If you are doing mixed driving then you should be able to average 25mpg.
  21. Go to your Lexus dealer with your vehicle document so you can prove ownership and order a new lock set.
  22. Hopefully everybody is working out their mpg by using the amount of fuel they have just put in to fill it up rather than the fuel tank size 70l is 15.4 imperial gallons
  23. Mineral is not the recommended. Any oil meeting the standards and grades listed in the handbook is recommended be it mineral, semi-synthetic or fully synthetic. Personally I would go with semi-synthetic for that engine. It shouldn't need the added protection that fully synthetic gives (unless you want to give it a hard time, or don't mind spending the extra money) and I feel that 10,000 miles drain interval is too long for a mineral based oil.
  24. Ideally you would want newest and lowest mileage but that will cost. I would personally want the newest model because of the improvements to engine, ride, specification etc. However you are talking about running costs and as it is such a big car things like suspension parts will wear with mileage and therefore a very low mileage MKIII may cost you less to run for the next 3 years over a high mileage MKIV.
