  1. If you stopped posting back to back (and without your own text as a quote) we might be able to see what you're saying. Personally I think you're having some trouble reading yourself. You clearly replied stating manufacturers have no monopoly to a post where I explicitly mentioned an extended warranty If you don't know, don't reply for the sake of it Besides, if you're talking about manufacturers warranty your replies are irrelevant, unneeded and clog the thread up as the OPs car is coming up to 6 years old
  2. Utter rubbish. I suggest you do some research before spewing out misinformation only applies to manufacturer warranties from new and as I mentioned before, doesnt apply to extended warranties so they can put whatever t&cs they like for these
  3. Not true. If it's Lexus / any other manufacturer extended warranty they can chose whatever they like to refuse a claim depending on their own T&Cs So in essence if they say in the T&C's that you need to show evidence of licking the Lexus badge, you better get taking those photos!
  4. Very nice Not too far then. Certainly the grill looks interesting
  5. Some use auto-pricing which looks at the market and then adjusts accordingly.
  6. The number plate seems to be a big one. Happened on nearly all of my RXs and fixed with felt pads behind the plate
  7. No it's not. It's a screen change and looks exactly the same outside
  8. The issue is that there wont be many people to take this on as its a very rare car in the first place. Additionally, they'll still need parts and the whole rear axle steering unit comes as a whole for the GS450h Someone in the US talked about disconnecting it and aligning the car so it just works like a normal car but no idea on how to do this. You could try these chaps. I can remember ordering an IS300h stereo unit which I couldnt find elsewhere http://www.lexusbreakers.co.uk/
  9. It's extremely unlikely that a part like this would come up on eBay or salvage yards. I think the only realistic option is to try to contact Lexus Ireland customer services and explain the cost is ridiculous and nearly 50% of the cars value . Lexus do have a scheme to keep cars on the road and I think they should subsidise it.
  10. Theoretically they dont need changing until atleast 60k The issue is that they are recommended on the service schedule to be changed at the 6year/60k service so yes, despite not needing a change, probably best to do it anyway. Our IS300h was a low mileage car and had 20k on when it got to 6 years. Luckily at that point in time Lexus Essential Care existed, so I just opted for the major service and no spark plugs as theyre an extra £150 on that particular scheme. Unfortunately, they got rid of the essential care now
  11. I'm on mobile doesn't show locations but I was assuming based on this being a .co.uk site and last time I checked Ireland used euros not GBP? Some clarification required from OP
  12. On Lexus Website. Does the car have full Lexus service history according to the timelines as that may be the deciding factor. Lexus UK contact the dealer directly and find out what the issue is and if their willing to subsidise it etc
  13. Never heard of this issue before. Is the vehicle not under the Lexus Relax scheme or extended warranty? How many miles are on it? Unfortunately it's very unlikely anyone would have much experience with it. An option you could try is Lexus UK. They are very good and would rather a Lexus remain on the road and can massively subsidise costs of repair for unusual problems
  14. Generally depends on how many sales they expect to achieve and the area that they cover, along with costs of purchasing or leasing the building. Its likely that if theres a dealership covering a large area itll naturally be larger in order to stock more vehicles.
  15. Like I said, not entirely true. Definitely true if part exchanging after taking delivery but that would be similiar to any other vehicle. Not really true for this model as the updates are too minor on the face of it and some buyers wont care. The other aspect is that Lexus dealers tends to control the second hand market for cars under 5 years old unlike other manufacturers as the bulk of cars end up with them
  16. Well yes, the theory is there. I believe Jag came out with it a few years ago but the main problem was that theres no real perception of how far vehicles behind you actually are unlike a normal rear view mirror
  17. Not had an issue with it but it's still a bit pointless unless you're driving a van, In essence surely it's just like looking at a display so it'd be similar to looking at the instrument display behind the steering wheel would it not?
  18. It's because the premium sports edition is a special model. They're usually released about a year before a facelift or model change. I think the mercury grey replacement is sonic grey? Platinum is silver
  19. Its a mild update with no exterior changes and unlikely to affect the values as much as a proper mid cycle refresh would Both options would cost more money than staying put. Id imagine the discounts on the MY23 model will be much reduced. Keeping the car and Part ex will be even worse, youd instantly lose £5-10k
  20. Theres no way to disable it from the vehicle itself. The UXe has it too and theres nothing in the cabin or settings to suggest it can be turned off even temporarily
  21. Yes itll come with the sound thing. You cant disable it and it was quite annoying at first but you get used to it. It switches off over 20mph or so anyway.
  22. Its likely to be phone related or potentially something in the settings causing the GPS to turn off if the phone is idle maybe.
  23. You fail to say what wax you used and what decontamination process you followed before applying the wax if any? Tar spots and other contamination will cause that effect as the wax residue doesnt rub off them like it would on paint. Its likely the car needs a full decon including tar removal, fallout removal and clay bar followed by a machine polish. There's no point using a clay bar if you're not going to polish it afterwards as youll introduce a lot of swirls and marks, especially on Lexus soft paint - even worse when its black!
  24. Well luckily my accountant is a good friend of mine so just tend to call him directly no matter what time of day
