  1. Something ive noticed that really pisses me off! Washed the car on Saturday and dried it using my favourite purple monster towel! BUT - the car drips like crazy! Under the mirrors and fuel cap (OK not strictly that bad as it only happens once), but the sill under the doors drove me mad! They just wouldnt stop! Eventually opened all 4 doors and let it dry out naturally! What a pain lol.
  2. Yep, 51.4mpg average. Autoebid doing £6k off list price for the F-Sport version, didn't bother to check Premier. Their website is showing both current and new models but the newer models have a higher price and higher MPG if you look closely!
  3. YAY!!! my wife beat the 30mpg wall! 32mpg atm!! Its basically doing 55-60mpg down the hill and when it goes back up its doing some ridiculously low figure so average works out 32mpg! It shows 410miles on a tank cruising range which rapidly drops when going up hills!
  4. 1) Theres a little switch in the glovebox for the power boot, check it out and see if it makes a difference. Also, try the spare fob to see if that works. If not, may need taking to the dealer. 2) Not paid much notice to it but mine is semi-soft open. Its not too fast and not too slow. Best thing to do is pop into the dealers and check their demo as they all use the same interior bits. 3) You'll need to activate the rear wiper and turn it off when it gets halfway and is completely vertical. You can buy refills or just change the whole blade, its a standard hook type fitting. 4) Im not too sure on the exact specifications of the SEL Premier but if it has Adaptive cruise control, it should have the PCS too. To check if you have adaptive cruise control, look for the button on the steering wheel with a wave coming out of the front. The PCS switch off button should be close to the steering wheel, either where the buttons are to the right of the steering wheel, or, if equipped, where the TPMS reset button is which is further down, near the bonnet opening lever 5) That thud would need checking by a mechanic - sounds like a suspension issue.
  5. I wonder if the F-pace will be a competitor. Its a really odd thing being in between an NX and the new RX in terms of dimensions and pricing also sits in between the NX and RX too apart from the S models which go to about £60-65k with a decent spec. No petrol engines either apart from the 3.0 V6 - very odd, and the Diesel only has 180hp. Id imagine the test figures are slightly optimistic at 8.2s!
  6. I know see post 11!! Yep the dealers buy them directly at even less. They get them for about £45
  7. Are you sure it's not the rear subwoofer? I think an owner had a rattle in that
  8. It's aluminium effect plastic. Thing it's £70 inc shipping from rearguards which make them. Sticks on with 3M tape
  9. Not yet, I am sure it will come, is has to. Some way off yet though. Unlikely - their investing in hydrogen
  10. 80 dB is ridiculous, it is the first action level under the Noise at Work regs, at which hearing protection must be provided. Noise is a killer for me, and I once sold on a Skoda Octavia Scout very quickly because of road noise. I would not have expected it to be a problem in a Lexus, and must be careful when I change my car not to make assumptions based on my LS experience Thats odd, I have an IS300h, not much road noise at all - only slightly louder than my RX. Its running on the 18" with 225 front and 255 rear so not exactly small sizes
  11. Did they not offer to take your car in PX and provide a demo for a while? odd.
  12. You can put some OEM ones on as the Luxury rides on 17". Older IS 17" wheels will also fit.
  13. Honestly, I wouldn't be looking at the 2012 ones - rides like a rock and is essentially a Prius with nicer interior and body. Id suggest going towards the newer models or getting something like an Aygo as Im 300% sure it'll be pranged in the first month of ownership
  14. Choose another dealer - Lexus Carlisle is **** anyway - they hardly sell any used Lexus and have resorted to selling other brands "approved used" under the Lexus banner - SHOCKING!
  15. There are no leaders though - that would imply you can buy one today - the leader would therefore have to be Tesla as the P90D can almost drive itself.
  16. Although I still think all Lexus vehicles ride better than any of their German rivals
  17. No sensors for the tailgate. Its technically a door and hence, if you tried opening a door into a garage wall for example, Im sure it wouldnt stop you. As for the ride, number of factors - tyre pressure, suspension or crap british roads. Its got a higher centre of gravity needing firmer suspension than something like the NX. Parallel parking assist - dunno - don't need this - actually I can just sense where the side and rear is using just the camera. All rear number plates should have some tape around the screws - maybe the dealer forgot to add these? Lexus Chester stick their plates on for this very reason and don't use screws.
  18. The Automated GS is pretty good - there are NO leaders in this field since fully automated vehicles are illegal at the moment. The motorway only strategy seems a good bet - it even changes lanes by itself without needing any input from the driver. Im sure it'll work fine on our motorways. Who needs an automated car in town anyway?! If you want one of them you've either got to be unable to drive or unworthy of driving in the first place.
  19. Send the car back - should be completely covered - its not your responsibility until after handover
  20. TFR is a crap remover (not a crap crap remover as it does a good job at what its supposed to do) - very strong stuff actually, the cheap ones being rather caustic. These things were originally intended for bus and truck washes as its quick and buses and trucks don't really need to be shiny. You have to remember that this stuff strips waxes down leaving your car bare of anything on it which is problematic if you get some bird poo or whatever else on. You've just bought a white car, you'll start seeing black spots (tar) and iron contamination (the brown rust spots) after a while and it needs regular maintenance to stay looking good. TFR's will remove some of the tar but they make the rust spots worse. Onto coatings then, I agree, the car WILL need washing at some point. BUT - these coatings greatly reduce the amount of dirt the car accumulates by shedding some off when it rains, not to mention that they resist light scratching as they're usually made out of silicon dioxide.
  21. The perfect solution for you would be a coating on the car. Something like Cquartz UK or the Kamikaze coatings are great as they last for 1-2 years. But - this coating ideally needs to stay away from TFR. TFR is a quick fix, crap remover. Lots of cars have issues, especially on plastic trim with the TFRs. Car washes tend to stick back to black products to hide the stains it leaves on plastic. Then, once the coating is on, you can wash whenever you feel like and thats it - no waxing or anything else involved.
  22. The only things I can see in addition to the IS on F-Sport is AVS, Lane keep assist, triple LED headlights, memory seats and a reversing camera (without guidelines). The navigation is still an option - probably £2k! So essentially - an IS with metallic paint, AVS, memory seats and premium nav will be £37850 An RC will be £37495 + £2k (premium nav) + £610 paint = £40,105 so it doesnt work out that much more. But then, the RC is less practical (try fitting a teenager in the back) and weighs a lot more which is obviously going to affect fuel economy and performance. The RC will essentially have the same performance as the GS as the weight is similiar. Id bet a badget the IS handles better too which is why its so frustrating that they didn't bring an IS-F and instead, made do with an RC-F
  23. Pretty pointless tbh. I can't see how its innovative at all. May as well make another one from wood while theyre at it...... id assume they got a company to make it anyway - they won't have done it "themselves"
  24. That pricing looks very high. In the US there's only a $3k difference between the IS and RC. What's made them put the price on the RC £5k more than the current IS? So really, you're paying £5k more for a slower, less practical car with an almost identical interior to the IS. That's really odd. Id expect £3k not more.
  25. Nice but why didn't you wait 3 months for the new one? Just curious.....
