  1. HIDs takes time to warm up and as courtesy to other road users you shouldn't really run it in a reflector . LED applications have no distance and aren't legal I believe. I think most of the people who want to change their high beams want to match their lows and get that instant on/off effect. The IS250 has a bixenon projector so you can always remove the high beam bulbs and still retain high beam functionality. Brightness will be poor but it should tick the rest of the two boxes.
  2. Wonder if it's 'Slammed' or 'Hella flush' Probably both!
  3. A logical explanation seems to be that when you inserted your new disc the firmware got updated. The updated firmware probably contains a 'fix' that does not allow burnt discs to be run in the SAT Nav. I don't think you can go back now.
  4. The non-xenon lights do not have horizontal adjustment. It is likely that the beam was moving but not as dramatically as you would like it to be. Try again preferably against a white wall parked about 20ft away. Put a mark on the wall before you start so that you have a reference point in terms of movement.
  5. That's great, at least you don't need to worry about getting it spot on as you can always adjust from the inside if it's too high. The xenon headlights don't have the switch inside the car so it's a pretty daunting task, getting it right. I remember I had to adjust mine several times before I found the sweet spot. If you raise them too much you will probably loose a lot of foreground lighting so balance is the key here.
  6. It's funny how a Toyota Avensis of the same age has a switch inside the car to adjust the height of the beam and you are supposed to go adjust it with a screwdriver on the premier marque.
  7. Thanks! Although I do not intend to do the needle tricks. Your video will be a great help in removing the covers so that I can fix a tiny rattle that comes from that area.
  8. Looks so much better! I am not really big on such kind of modifications but I think this one was worth it. :)
  9. They do seem quite rear. Trying to find out the difference between the 2nd and 3rd face-lift models for comparison apart from the obvious (DRL & Speedo). Does anybody know?
  10. I can imagine!! Seconded...layout will be familiar but everything else is so much better. Well....maybe apart from ride comfort . Concerned but I think I might be able to fix this one with coilovers. Having s*x with the queen and megan fox may feel similar but the experience and the package is very different...you know you want an F :) LOL - Interesting comparison. Having owned an is250 of which was fully loaded and got the full exterior body kit plus f sport exhaust, induction....blah blah blah blah blah. I can say from my own expereince of owning an ISF they are 2 totally different cars. The is250 was more close to my GS300. My GS450h was a different animal and quality to both of those and then the ISF is just another level. edited.....selling is restricted to gold members only..sorry..... Considered the GS450H too but don't think its easy to park around London. I am more luxury oriented to be honest but I just love the shape of the 2nd Gen IS especially the ISF. The hunt is on. Looking for a face-lift model in white with white interior and sunroof. Not any around at the moment but hoping some come along when the RCF is launched.
  11. That's actually quite a good idea. I am a bit concerned that I won't enjoy it as much as the rest of you as I have been driving the IS250 for a few years now and the ISF may just feel too familiar. I will probably test drive one first and then decide.
  12. I have been keen on the ISF myself but the 4 seats has been a deal breaker. It's great to know that the IS250 seat fits. The only issue now is that I want one with white leather and if you want to use the IS250 rear seat then black is pretty much the only option I guess. :(
  13. This is probably no different from running water through the intake.
  14. All you need to do is to move the lever to 'Park' using the shift lock button and then press the start button once (or twice?) to switch the car off completely. There is no need to restart the engine. It's obviously not good practice and like others said you'll soon get in the habbit of not leaving the car in 'Drive'. :)
  15. It was fine. No surprise bills and given a clean bill of health. Dealer service on a 07 car is probably not worth it as others have mentioned but I just went there for convenience. You should post the details of this ex Lexus technician. Probably helpful for everyone (including him).
  16. Check your water pump too. I had the fan come on frequently when mine was on its way out.
  17. Nice! The weights are sticking out a bit though in silver. I wonder if you can get them in black so that they blend in better.
  18. Spark plugs only need to be done at 60K intervals. I had mine done at 60K so they aren't due for another 40K miles. It includes some other stuff apart from the oil and oil filter change but I can't remember what it was.
  19. Lexus Croydon have quoted me £199 including VAT for the 80K service. They are saying it will be a major service. It's booked for next week. We'll see how it goes.
  20. Euro Car Parts or Lexus/Toyota Dealer. I would say go for the original parts. Re coolant - Halfords or ECP - Something is better than nothing. Even water if need be.
  21. A prerequisite is the headlights being on. Nothing to do with speed.
  22. I had somebody scrape my car and they broke off one of my headlamp washers. I bought the parts myself and installed it. Had the same issue of the new one not going down properly. After some investigation it turned out that the new washer cap was too tight and hence it was getting stuck when being lowered back into the bumper. This wasn't an issue when it was engaged because of the sheer pressure. I just left it and it improved with time. It's perfectly fine now. If you want you can remove the washer cap and then try the washers. A plastic nozzle should come out of the bumper and go back in smoothly. If it doesn't then you've got a different issue.
  23. The part numbers are the same for both the GS and the IS350. I can get these from the USA for £800ish but I would like to check locally too before I proceed.
