  1. Good info update, keeps us aware of potential faults
  2. Always do what I do when it gets bad............think, plenty of people in Christie's Hospital would be glad to swap problems...
  3. Typical of the UK now, skills don't count, we used to be a manufactuing country. :tsktsk: Now we are just a warehouse for China....... What happened to apprenticeships for young people.......down the same road.
  4. Although I've not used them for HT leads, try BLUEPRINT products, they seem to be good quality. If your not going OEM........
  5. I always try when I can to offer help to club members [along with many others]........can I ask anyone who benefits, to post the end result if any, along with any other details they find? If more did this we would all gain more info and hopefully save money! Not a rant, I just wonder if we can get more 'follow ups' :winky:
  6. Getting to the lock is fiddly, look on LEXLS for the door trim. You have to push the track back for the door glass [one screw] [glass up] and twist the lock to get it out. There are two link rods high up to unclip. If your are handy on cars its's not hard just slow....
  7. If you hear the motor try to unlock the door, look inside at the plastic buttons [red stripe shows when open]. If the one on the drivers door is only partly open it is the linkage thats rusty inside. [Happened on mine, trim off and lock out to clean and oil] fiddly job cannot rush it!] If thje lock won't unlock electrically, there is a switch attached to the lock barrel. Trim off again but with a bit of fiddling you can remove and replace it. [might clean out if contacts still good]
  8. Heater fan should not be on as you describe, it's likely to be that.......other things... is the boot lid light going off when shut, same for glove box light, door lights etc....... Does the fan still run when switched from auto to off?
  9. I don't think the transmission uses fluid as you describe, are you checking in a consistent manner i.e engine hot every time. Is the fluid clean [pinkish] with no burnt smell?
  10. I think all autos do this if the cold idle speed is high. Check if yours in correct.....I always wait a minute after starting when cold for the revs to drop which is quite quick on the LS. Don't know about the GS.......
  11. Think this has been covered elsewhere, post again on the USA LOC site, someone will know!
  12. Apparently you can get every part to ovehaul it if you fancy the job!
  13. Relay is supposed to be in the boot.....what model year is yours? Is it an import? Do the front fogs work OK?
  14. Before you go down that road, why not remove the calipers and check for seizing? The carriers and calipers are pretty substantial stuff, I think distortion on these is your last resort..... just my two pennorth....... :duh:
  15. At a guess I would say that if the discs were fitted to clean rust free surfaces and ran perfectly true ie; runout within spec. at least, then maybe the brake cylinder/s are partly seized on one or both sides. One brake piston pressing harder than the other???
  16. Check out www.manflex.co.uk, if it's the hose, they can usually repair or make one
  17. JAMAC.......Check ldmautoparts USA [Ebay] , I got rear trailing arm and rear axle carrier bushes from them. [ polyurethane] I was told r/axle carrier bushes are not available from Lexus, but I have not tried to confirm it. :)
  18. When I had my aircon regassed the guy had no end of cylinders, vacuum equipment, measuring stuff and the like and it took more than an hour. There are specified amounts of coolant and oil type etc., Best to get it done right. Cost me £50
  19. Based on your location, post again on the USA LOC, there are lots more LS on your side of the pond, no doubt you will get some info cheers
  20. According to the w/shop manual, the rear fog relay is on the left side of the boot, behind the cover. The front fog relay is on junction block No 1 this is near your feet. Make sure all fuses on this board are OK, there are some empty slots if the the item is not on your car. :winky:
  21. The key word is illegal, if they are illegal, deport them. Undermines the ones who are legal........
  22. There is no doubt we should act responsibly by trying to cut down on pollution where we can. The current goverment use the global warming excuse to rip us off even more. Politicians have never seen a map of the the British Isles, does anyone look at the size of us compared to the rest of the world.. Doesn't matter what we do here , the first volcano that erupts negates it all........man thats some pollution when it happens. :duh:
  23. Few LS being broken up on Ebay,...... have you tried cleaning the solenoid filter?
