  1. I have exactly the same problem........before you start dismantling things try this. Unlock as usual and open the door wide open, with a screwdriver or something, push the lock mechanism in to simulate the door being locked. Try unlocking and locking [without closing the door] if it locks now or with the door in a different position [mine does] might be a break in the wiring where it enters the door.?? There is a switch attached to to lock barrel, it clips on, has an led in the harness with it, presumably to light the lock.
  2. Apparently there is a little filter on a solenoid next to the steering rack, might be worth cleaning this as well
  3. I'm sure I've seen a post on here about a place in Failsworh or Oldham for suspension and alignment...
  4. Hi Chips .....thanks for the reply...it happens when you try to lock the car. The internal door switches work perfect. When it eventually decides to work , all doors lock normally and the security light goes on. It's like a bad connection but only when locking. Apparently there is a switch on the lock and this is suspect....I did'nt want to take the door trim off if the fault was elsewhere............... cheers
  5. My LS has refused to lock a few times without a lot of key twiddling, although it always UNLOCKS first time. I've read up on it and it points to the internal keylock switch. Before I go randomly scattering money in all directions.......I wonder if this problem has happened to others and what was the cure? Any info. you guys?
  6. Does not mention N or P so assume either OK. There should be a steady continuous flash if no codes are identified The codes are a number of pauses and flashes.... ie flash flash pause, flash flash pause, etc would be code 22 water temp sensor signal. A thing to note is that the test mode will not start if terminals TE2 and E1 are connected AFTER the ignition is switched on. Hope this is some use..... :duh:
  7. Might be worth checking all suspension bushes including rear axle carrier, along with front ball joints...
  8. Check the fuses on the junction block on the right near the drivers feet Check that the 'dome' fuse is OK .....this is in the big fuse box under the bonnet The power seat ECU is shown as on the floor under the seat. Memory info is sent to it from the tilt and telescopic ECU shown as under the dash just behind the wheel. There is also a position sensor on each motor. Hope this gives you a clue where to start!!!! :duh:
  9. If the belt is squeeking after starting from cold when the alternator is working hard, it sounds like the alt. belt is too slack......
  10. If it's desperate and you have the ends, try a place that repair hydraulic hoses for JCB's and the like. They should be able to make one up for you. My mate had this done for a Merc. and it was a reasonable price, otherwise it means scouring the scrap car dealers......etc.
  11. Welcome aboard...... :)
  12. The council should not be allowed to crawl out of liability......what about the small claims court? might be worth a try, it's pretty straightforward....
  13. Yes, forgot about Blueprint....I have their discs on the front, been no problem. Do you know a good independant mechanic who could do the job? I've done the timing belt on mine with the help of good independant mechanic, it was a slow job, 'cos of all the disassembly needed. Hope you get sorted soon :)
  14. I think there is a Quinton Hazel non OEM part available
  15. Why not Waxoyl it underneath, not as dirty as underseal......
  16. I'm with Goldfinger........throttle body..........
  17. I did the same with caps. from Maplins also, 12 months ago...still works OK. Just need patience, carefully removing the old ones. :)
  18. Welcome....... Great name, I reckon there's a few of them on here... So I've heard......
  19. The alarm should work [ie set] just by locking up......is it just the remote you are concerned about?
  20. The dealer played fair, so I'd pay no problem.......
  21. Great......everybody keep sending info..... thats what makes this LOC superb! PS HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL! :)
  22. If it's the usual fault, they will eventually fail to come on at all [worse on cold mornings] until the interior warms up. This fault has been widely covered and fixed on both the UK and USA LOC's.
  23. Merry Christmas to all............ :)
